converting accessories from male to female?

I've been looking around for instructions on how to change the sex for an accessory(glasses) but just have had no luck finding anything.
I'm a bit new to modding and am trying to make an eye patch for my female sim and all the meshes I like are for the males
help would be greatly apreciated

You may be able to just open up the recolour file in SimPE, look in... I think it's Mesh Overlay XML or Texture Overlay XML for a line that says "gender" - change it from 0x01 or 0x02 to 0x03 (which will make it unisex, both genders). Commit, save.

This doesn't work with everything though - male and female faces are a bit different in shape, but depending on how the accessory fits, that might work okay without needing to modify the mesh.
