All mounted fish gone after vacation!

I took my sim on vacation. He had a lot(20+) of mounted fish in his inventory, waiting for me to build his display room. They were still there on vacation. When he got back to sunset valley, they were gone! They're not in the family inventory, or in any other sim's inventory. Is there any way to get them back? :(

Seriously though, it depends if you've saved. If you've already saved I imagine they are dead and buried. I had this once, but I just quit and reloaded the save and the next time it teleported them correctly.

I know that EGC fixes this annoying bug, but I seem to remember from the Random Legacy thread that you use Awesomemod, so obviously incompatible if you do.

I brought my family home from vacation last night before I went to sleep and immediately saved and quit, then got on to play in the morning and noticed they were gone. So no way of going back and doing it again, unfortunately. Yes, I do play with awesomemod. But just out of curiosity, what's EGC? An alternate core mod?

I think it's a glitch, to be honest. My sim has the Collection Finder reward and sometimes when he goes on vacations, it magically isn't there anymore - and it wants me to purchase it again. (Stupid butterflies). But when he comes home it's there. [and vice versa].

Have you gone back to see if they're in the vacation hood?

won't your .backup save have them? Its normally "one save back" try moving your <name>.sims3 folder in the saves folder somewhere else to back it up and then rename the <name>.sims3.backup one to <name>.sims3 to see if the backup is an older save.
