For me it was a CORE mod I had to remove, which was rather comprehensive. So part of me wants to hold off in the hopes that it'll get updated.

I rushed from work to the store. Bought the game, and use my store credits to get 2 stuff packs. And now I'm at my friend's installing the game when the game store called me and said I've left my wallet there. Talk about excitement LOL.

i got mine this evening....loaded it up...the only mod that i can still use right now is the relitivity mod......
this is great...my adult sim had 5 new interactions with his mom in the first chat session....

I really hope it doesn't affect CC clothing as I just went nuts downloading stuff and it would be a pain in the ass to have to remove it all especially since I only have a few package files and most are Sims3packs (and I don't know where the game puts them).

Do they have any decent wedding veils? And do you finally get a microphone so you can add a singer to your band?

I didn't have to remove any CC except mods? It just works perfectly. Honestly, never had less problems with Sims game. Maybe it's because I don't use any Buy/Build CC? Just CAS.
But yeah, I was the first one to say that Generations would suck... and I'm eating my words right now! It's awesome!

Edit: ^no any new veils and no mic. Sorry. But, we do get awesome new jeans lol hope that makes it up. I'm kidding. But, seriously, not much more from what we've already seen in all the previews, but I like it. It's really good. And taking a stroll! Awesome. And now, you don't need a mod to 'edit a sim in C-A-S' while using testingcheatsenabled cheat. Just turn it on and shift+click. It' really helpful, since that was the only reason I ever considered getting one of the core mods.

Also: They seems to now have some sort of Career History that we can track under the career menu.

If you ask about the sim alma mater, they will tell what school they graduated from. Good interaction to use with sims in the town, creates a form of networking and make friends a bit faster if they went to the same school. Read about the networking part, will try it out today.

I had to remove Master Controller to get mine to work. Twallan's fast though, I expect him to have his mods updated any day now. Does anyone know if there's a way to turn off that annoying memory pop up?

They're working just fine. Everything works perfectly, except for couple of mods.

Of course my teen threw a party and of course it got crashed by police and of course his parents came back sooner and scolded him and now he's grounded and they keep scolding him every 2 hours. But, he can sneak out if they're sleeping and he's allowed to go to school.

Installing it now and can't wait! I'm really excited for this... I know others have said that it is a bit "bare bones" compared to other EPs, but I think I'll like it more than WA or even Ambitions because I'll be able to use it with every family, sort of like how Seasons was so great. I think it'll make the game more fun overall, and I'm excited. Can't wait for Twallan's mods to be updated, though.

So I've been trying a suggestion I read to copy the contents from a disk to a desktop folder and install it that way. Well it was saying it was gonna take 69 days to copy everything earlier. I don't know what the hell to do.

Would it be faster to instead of copying the folder to just completely move it? It always works faster on my computer if I move the actual folder instead of copying it. I don't know if you need that folder though for your installation so it might not work. Sorry, I can't be of any help. I know you must really want to play your game. :(

I'm waiting to install the game until after AwesomeMod, Overwatch & Master Controller are all updated since I don't want to play without them.

I was thinking, though, isn't the patch usually out by now? I thought all the EPs and SPs have to be patched every time you install a new EP. That's the other reason I'm waiting. I never patch through the Launcher, I always download the patches manually. I wonder if EA got lazy about having the patches ready on time and with the holiday, that probably made it worse. Either that, or the patches were really broken. I know a lot of people who pre-ordered the digital version are complaining on the official forums because they were told the game won't be available until at least noon Pacific time. I guess that's a few hours later than the digital copies are usually available.

I think people got confused by the fact that EA was using Sunset Valley to show off the EP and assumed that the new families they used in demos and any new lots they added would be in the game as soon as you install it. EA probably should have been clearer and explained that they just added lots from the bin into SV to play the game.

I would take it back and tell them it's defective. if you're getting a crc error you'll probably get the same error when you try to copy it. A crc error with a disc install usually means a problem with the disk and if the drive can't read it during install, the hard drive will have the same issue when you try to copy the files

Nope. It usually takes a day or two. Plus, I don't think anything can be updated until all the patches are officially released. I guess there was some kind of problem with the patch at least from what I've gathered from the posts of those who contacted EA support.

To get mine to work, i had to remove:

All of twallans mods.
All of the Buzzler mods.
3 Pieces of Custom Hair.(Don't know why, so don't ask)
1 Custom Vampire Overhaul
A certain Gardening gnome of awesomeness.

After that, everything worked fine.

Now, if only those things could be updated to work with generations, and i'll be fully happy.

Oh, btw, sneaking out after getting grounded for having a house party, getting caught again, and getting sent off to military school is hilarious. I suggest you give it a go, and watch the faces. :D

I can't believe how crappy the patch release notes were. I really want to know what exact bugs did they fix, now it just says under each ep "Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features". I want to know did they fix the random cars clogging the Sims inventories when not playing them, or what about the random instruments generated into inventories.

Okay, so I spent the last of my paycheck on the Generations EP. I digitally downloaded the game without any problems. When I went to install, the game said I needed to update to the newest patch. So, I tried to via the launcher and it said there are patch updates available even though I know there is a patch newer than the February one (which is the last one I have). So, I have no idea how to get my game patched. (Is there some sort of problem with this patch?) And Generations won't install without the patch. Any ideas/info?

(Also, I find it just a tad convenient that the official Sims 3 forums are "under maintenance" -- or whatever the page said. Absolute humbug, I say.)

I played a new world set up without most of my mods so I can familiarize myself with the way the game should go. When giving feedback, I want to know what is not working the way it should. I have played with Twallan's mods for so long I don't know what should go normally. Well after playing for 2 hrs last night, I had to give it up because the gameplay sucks without my mods. :cry:

Twallan's mods that work are "NoCD", some parts of "MasterController", "DebugEnabler". I need the story progression mod before I continue with the game because it's just not fun without them. :(

I took my mods out and tried testing cheats to edit a sim in cas and after I made the changes and clicked the check mark to accept them the sim disappeared and the game just stayed in cas. Anyone else have this issue? I'm on a mac.

That sounds like either your disk is damaged or your DVD drive is damaged.

Indeed, the 1.22 patch was leaked over at MATY but with drawn because there was a major bug with it.

If you are having problems...

If you're not able to get your game to patch, or you are having issues once in the game, please mosey on over to the Help section - if your problems are in-game, make sure to do the Game Help:Sims 3 Game Problem FAQ steps first before posting in Help, as 99% of problems immediately after installing a new EP tend to be due to incompatible CC (even if you think the stuff you have couldn't possibly be the issue). There's at least one thread going in the Help Q&A forums (linked on the first page of the Help section and at the top of every FAQ) about patch issues where you can look for suggested fixes - if you still have problems, please make your own thread in the help forums rather than posting about them here, or on an existing thread in Help.

It's going to take a while on story progression. I imagine that with memories, and having to log each family with memories as the story progresses is alot of work. Probably by saturday, or monday, i'd expect.

Well I was having the same problem as before. But I kept hitting retry and it finally installed. I started the game up fine.

Right now I'm starting a fresh Sunset Valley to explore in for awhile.

Yup, there's a checkbox in Options -- "enable memory notification", I think. I turned mine off after a couple hours too :)
