After School activities crash game

I just installed Sims 3: Generations and the game was runing fine until I tried to sign my teenager sim for an afterschool club. The game just freezes and crashes. After that I tried just playing without signing her up for a club,but the game still crashes. I know I have enough disk space. I'm not sure what the problem is, but has anyone run into a similar problem? Is there a solution?
