Hello i was wondering if anyone can help me? My situation is basically this: 19th century Victorian home, 3 floors- and the maids chamber as well as kitchen is below the dining room. I can't get the maids to cook the meals in the kitchen basement and then serve the food in the upstairs dining table (right above).
When the servants prepare the meal on the counter, they just eat it in the basement lol? The madame is starving and she wouldn't dare go into the kitchen.
Is there a mod for this? Thanks in advance!!

Hello thanks for the mod!
I installed this and it makes the maid cook food but she stands there (in the basement) and eats, but does not serve the food upstairs =[

I was able to resolve this issue (first problem was that i forgot to download ALL three links, doh!), 2nd problem was that she needed a counter to place the bowl of food after she was done serving the plates on the table. So i had to create a dummy counter in the dining room, used a recolor to make it invisible and placed a table under it so the food didnt look like it was floating on air lol? I wish there was just a maid option so i didnt have to make a sims out of it lol. Thank you though!

Hey, I know this thread is old but there is a way to get an npc maid (/gardener/repairman/whatever else you want). You can download it here:

I just got it recently and it works amazingly well. You just create npcs using the urn (Misc.< Misc. section) then you hang up the portraits and put in the stove and assign work hours and functions. You can even have multiple nannies and maids.
If you already have this by now, I'll feel like a dork for saying this...

The hack looks like a good idea. My strategy is always to have the stove and empty kitchen counter close to the wall between the kitchen and dining room -- essentially make the counter the closest surface to the dining room table. That way, the cooked food is set on THAT counter, and automatically is served to THAT table because it's the closest. I've also experimented with having a sideboard in the dining room for the serving plate to sit on. But I see that it would be a problem when the servant work areas are so far from the lah-di-dah dining areas. Hack, definitely. Let us know how it turns out!

Wow this is a super old thread! First off, thanks to all the awesome people who've helped me out.
Secondly, I also noticed that if you put a "slot blocker" on the surfaces, than the maid will be forced to find the closest table to place the serving bowl.
Unfortunately this also means that they will try to eat at that table too...which is annoying (off to the basement you go wench!), but I need to give that 24 hour maid thing a try!

Without hacks, although I think you need OFB: Rather than directing the cook to "Serve Dinner... Salmon" or whatnot, direct them to "Make... Group Meal... Salmon." They will make the meal but not serve it. You can then go to buy mode, and move the meal to a counter close to the table you want to serve at. If you want to be more realistic, you can put the meal in the cook's inventory, and have them walk up to the formal dining room. Once the meal is where you want it, direct someone to serve it.
