Hi everyone!

I am having problems getting my roof to allign properly. For some weird reason it's not going all the way to the edge. I do have MoveObjects On.

Here is a screen of one of the areas I want to cover with roof...

Here is as far as I can go before it says "Can't Intersect Other Objects"...

Why is this happening?

You're getting blocked by the roof on the upper floor. Do the lower floor first.
This belongs in Create -> Building, by the way. :)

It's the *windows* which are already placed on the upper roofed area which are conflicting. You need to temporarily remove them, place the lower roof, and then lower it to a level which will not interfere with the windows when you place them back.

You can also do a partial level and then place the upper level on top of that to make this a non-issue. (This requires building a full level, then lowering it down to the level you desire, usually foundation height. You do this by using the "constrainfloorelevations false" command, then placing a modular short stair and using the level terrain tool to lower the floor to the stair landing. You have to do it three times in order to lower the partial level down to foundation height. You an then build on the partial floor. Sims will walk up staircases unimpeded. I know, because I've tested this.)

It's the windows on the second floor that are blocking the roof placing, like writerchick said.

I have tried removing the windows and it doesn't make a difference. However, I haven't tried doing the lower roof first. I'll try that and get back to ya's.

Thanks for your input. And thank you for moving the thread. I'm sorry, I have never really used these forums. I got a bit lost.

If you have furniture in the upstairs then the roof also may not place. Try using the half gabled roof instead? You will still need to remove windows as armiel mentioned.

Tried doing lower level roof first - Didn't work.
Tried removing windows again - Didn't work.

Ugh. This seems like a pain in the bumb. I have made houses before and I usually do the roof very last so I don't understand why it isn't working now.

I ended up just doing auto-roofing and changing some of the roof pieces to what I wanted, however I can't change some, otherwise it won't go to the edge. Craziness!!!

Sometimes it helps to go out to Edit Town and then re-enter your lot. I don't know why that is, it just is. If that doesn't work, close the game and then re-start it.

I would absolutely recommend building your roof as one of the first thing you do. Roofs and stairs can be a real pain to fit.

Sorry the suggestions didn't work, Sarah...

The windows though, does not interfere while "Roofing" for me now that there's the Roof Height slider. Have you tried adjusting the height of the roof? Even when I get that "Can't Intersect Other Objects" message, the roof can still be placed and snapped into place just fine. I wonder if it's because I have Buzzler's AutoRoofDisabler mod?
Or perhaps instead of working it inwards, ie roofing outside in, build the roof outward? Start from the inside towards the outside, I mean.

Failing all that, perhaps more pictures from different angles or show the interior decor if someone may spot something blocking it.

I try to do the roof before the windows or anything else because of that problem. Try the roof with the flat back and draw along the back line, if it makes a bonk sound its still hitting something. Lights, pictures, anything on the wall will stop it from completing.
