Somehow, I keep having to change what computer I sim on. I had a 'hood on one of my other computers that I like a lot and want to keep playing. Is it possible to move/copy the game file on that computer and use it on my current computer?

Yes. Just copy the neighborhood file, as you would for a backup, and transfer it by whatever method is available to you - e-mail a copy, put it on a flash drive, whatever. If it duplicates an existing number (if you're moving N001, Pleasantview, for example), take care to delete the unwanted duplicate first.

You may also need to transfer the Downloads folder but it's all easily copyable.

Can I just copy the whole file not just the 'hood?

You mean the whole EA Games folder? Yes, you can but you will be copying over a load of unnecessary and redundant stuff to clog up your nice new hard drive. Also, potentially, corruption.

I had a Window XP for years recently I purchase a brand new desk top PC window 7, naturally I did not want to start my game over from zero. What I find to be a good ideas for anyone is to buy an external harddrive ( outer ) it is very easy to connect to your computer in the front or back if you have the option, most computer have this on it.

This way you can just transfer your Sims 2 files on it, and transfer to any computer, without losing anything. The price of an external harddrive is not bad at all depend on how many GB you want they can go from 500 GB and up. You also can purchase a port that you can put the harddrive in, the one I have sit on my desk top out of the way the ports are not that big.

When I want to use it I just plug in the front of my computer when not in use I unplug it. A perfect back up for anything you want to save and put on a different Computer I love it, just perfect for any files you want to save and transfer to another computer with no problems at all.

You have to copy (at least) the entire neighborhood folder, for example N004 or G001. I'm not sure why Peni Griffin said that you copy the neighborhood file.

I agree Simonut, external hard drives are the biz.

Because I was frustrated dealing with a wonky internet connection and didn't proofread properly. Sorry to be misleading.

At least you added "as you would for a backup"

In regards to that external hard drive recommendation, go for a portable external hard drive, rather than the ones with a power plug. That way you free up an outlet for some other electronic device.

It's very reasonable to zip your entire Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder and then copy that to your new computer.
