View Full Version : Unassigned bones on teen conversion - help?

Hi, I've got a problem and hoped someone could help me. I've been doing a lot of teen conversions recently. Most of them have been quite straightforward, but I have one that gave me the message "unassigned bones exist - export anyway?" Which confused me, because I'd done it exactly the same way as all my other conversions and nothing seemed amiss with the original adult mesh. Anyway, of course, it exploded.
So thinking I'd maybe done something wrong, I tried again. But when I had a look at the adult mesh, it turned out it was missing a bunch of bone assignments too.
So. Is there a quick way to fix this? Somehow the adult one works with half the chest and torso and thighs unassigned, is there any way to make the teen one work too? Or is there a simple way to assign the bones? Or am I going to have to just select vertices and assign them? Thanks in advance!

Prolly something went wrong with the adult, try extracting the original again and check its boneassignements.
If you did not edit the mesh by adding or deleting vertice it is possible to bring back the original boneassignements with the use of objx export/import.
You export the correct mesh as objx file and import it in your teen obj mesh.

You'll probably have to assign the bones manually. Then you know it will work properly. (Hey, just be glad it isn't a fiddly area like the fingers or something! Thighs and torso are not too bad.)

I'll try the objx fix first, although I should probably mention that it's a custom mesh, not an EAxis one. If that fails... I'm not sure I like it enough right now to manually add bones. XD

If the adult custom mesh worked ingame you should be able to use it.

You open that mesh first in Milkshape and export it as objx file(the objx contains all the data but not the mesh itself)
Then start new and import your teen mesh, export it as obj file(this will kill all the data on it)
Start new again and import the teen obj file, then also import the adult objx file.
Check the comments and boneweights.

Only important thing is that you save the files under the same name.
Either top, bottom or body depending wat kind of mesh it is.

Thank you, I'll try that. :)

ETA: It keeps erroring out when I try to import the adult objx. I may try again later but I have a feeling that mesh is borked in ways I don't understand.
