Patch has screwed up my game

When I try to log in when I get to the choose a family menu, it just comes up with can't connect to network, or something along those lines, and it won't let me log in, and also when I try to play the game it will play for a few minutes and then it will just crash. Can anyone help?

Are you playing a digital download, or do you have the disc version of the game?
