My lot keeps loading but nothing happens

Hi all,

I have this problem with a certain lot in my neighborhood. If I try to load the family, it just keeps loading and loading but nothing happens. I have searched hours on the internet for a solution, but none of them work for me.

I've tried to remove my downloads, cache files, uninstalled lots I've downloaded days before, but it does not work. I've followed this (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem) guide as much as I could, but I could not test without the user files, because it was only that lot which caused a problem.

I read somewhere on this help forum a solution which involved packing your lot, but it crashed doing that as well.

This is not the first time it happened in my neighborhood, the first time was a couple of days ago, and I fixed it by moving the family to another house. Which is a fine fix... but I am afraid the problem will keep occurring, and moving them every time would be awful since they lose a lot of stuff that way as well.

I am quite desperate at this moment and I hope someone around here can help me. I am not very familiar with Sims 2 bugs and glitches and/or cc, I've always played without cc and never really had huge problems. Maybe the lots are not correctly uninstalled, or did I miss something else? Is my neighborhood corrupt?

Is this a lot which you created, or which you downloaded? Have you been playing the lot without any problem, or did you just move the family into the lot? Did anything special happen the last time that you played? Hang? Crash? Error message?

It is a lot from the base game. I have played them for at least 2 sim days with cc in my game without any problem. I can't recall any error or crash thing last time I played with that family.

It's difficult to tell what's wrong. Definitely try moving your family into another lot. Can you then edit the lot in build mode, or does it still load indefinitely? Does the same thing happen to the original lot which had the problem?

If you continue to have the problem, I wonder whether it would be worth trying to restore the original lot package from your neighborhood templates? Have you made extensive changes to the lot since it was shipped?

I've tried both lots, they both load perfectly and I can edit and save them without any crashing. They were both EA lots by the way, without any buy or build cc.

I haven't made any big changes about the houses. One of them got too small, so I built some extra rooms, but nothing special.

The neighborhood I am playing in is Pleasantview, if that is important.

The fact that the lots work OK without the families points to a potential problem with the families. However, I gather that your families are playing well in their new houses?

They do indeed. I played some more families this week, and got the same problem with two other ones. I placed them in new houses as well, and since nothing has happened since, I hope it won't occur again. If it will, I'll post again. For now, thanks for the help. :)
