View Full Version : Solved!

Edit. Problem solved by the most obvious: patching to 1.34. Seems like Riverview requires SHT patches. Thanks for the help still!

I recently did a complete reinstall of Sims on my computer, and decided to do a fresh download of all my purchased store content. Everything else installed fine, except Riverview. I can download it, but when the installation completes, I get a notification about a required update.

My game is still on patch 1.29 (I am not willing to update it), but I can't understand why this should be a problem with Riverview - it's an old release and I've used it on any patch level until now without problems. Since when -and why- would Riverview require a patch higher than 1.29?

Anyway, a trip to the official forums taught me people with fully patched game face this problem ("update required") as well. A sim guru there suggested downloading from the in-game store as a solution, but it doesn't work either. I tried it but it won't show up under installed content on my launcher, nor is it on the 'new game' menu. (the in-game store claimed it was successfully installed though).

Any other tricks I could try?
Riverview is a nice town, and I'd like to get it back to fully enjoy Simsample's Jericho. :)

Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestions! :luff:

EDIT to add that my also my Origin is a fresh install from a couple days ago, and up to date.

If you have more then base-game all others need to be updated to their latest version availible, although this shouldn't be needed more as almost everything is based from just base game now days.

Since EA don't update them any more, only way to update EP/SP's to versions higher then they are as default, is to use stand alone updates, which can be gotten by using patchdownloader tool (it's found on downloads page) from here or to search for them.

Another solution which worked for me in the past, is to just have base game with no updates, install Riverview, install EP/SP's let them update base game and when all are installed update to latest patch.

Thank you for the help, Belzader. :)

When I did the re-install, I manually updated my expansions and stuffpacks, but now that I went to check the patch table, turns out my WA and AMB were not quite up to date. I fixed that now but it didn't solve the problem with Riverview.

I have a sneaky suspision installing patch 1.34 wouldn't help either, but I wonder if there's anything else to try. All of my EPs and SPs should be at pre-SHT level now-

What you could try is anygamestarter3 which is also here, with it you can run with just base game or just some EP/SP's.
It make completly seperate profiles (including mods and sims3packs) so you can test with diffrent setups, with out touching your original one.
A warning though do not update game on any of them as updating is done on installed game not profiles (just saying so you do not update by mistake).

Oh wow, I didn't know about this Any Game Starter...! It seems very useful, so I went & installed it.

I created another profile for just the Base Game. I still get the "update required" message when I try to install Riverview. But I'm glad this problem lead to at some new, useful information, now I can try the game with different languages. Thank You, Belzader! :)
