I've searched for threads about this topic, and while I found a few, they didn't exactly answer my questions. After reading Loverat's guide on organizing the download's folder, I decided to try and sort my 4000+ files into sub-folders, and have ran into a few problems. You'll have to forgive me--I'm computer illiterate and don't entirely understand how to do some things.
While using the Clean Installer, I noticed there are a couple hundred files that are only a string of what appears to be random letters & numbers. They don't have a "file type" and they don't have a preview image, so I have no idea what they are. What I was wondering is, would it be best to delete these types of files? For example, there is one file named 0a3c16389994d390ef9674232aca30e7 and it's size is 4,117 KB. I haven't a clue what it is but it's obviously taken up space in my downloads folder.
I would just like to know how they get there to begin with.
Also, if I just have a file that is named something like 1b5bf325_ChaiOftheEarth, and I know what it is, is it ok to re-name that file so it's easier to organize?
