One Year Later

Date Posted: 9th Mar 2010 at 3:51 AM

Time does fly. I can't believe my last journal entry on MTS2 was almost a year ago to the day. If you can't find any of my items here, you may find them at my other site. You can find me at TSR as Rosehill9991.

Not sure if I am going to dabble with Sims 3 creations as of yet. I've gotten quite a few requests for Sims 2 lots believe it or not. Specially apartment type lots. So I'll let you know if I upload anything new there.

I had a few ideas that I wanted to try.

Retiring From MTS2

Date Posted: 19th Mar 2009 at 12:22 AM

I won't be updating anything here for an undetermined amount of time. But I will be checking in to make sure my threads are working. You can also email, me or contact me if needed.

Thank you to everyone who downloaded, and took the time to leave all the wonderful comments. It made me really happy to create and upload here for the community.

I'll still be building and creating for The Sims, I won't get over that love anytime soon So you haven't heard the last of me yet

The Latest Server Failure

Date Posted: 15th Mar 2009 at 6:00 PM

I had about 20 threads that became corrupted. I'm pretty sure I corrected them all, and they should be fine. Please let me know also, if you can't download any of my items.

Thanks to the staff for working hard on fixing the problem.

Thanks

100000 Downloads

Date Posted: 3rd Mar 2009 at 6:36 PM

When I first started creating on MTS2 I had a goal of reaching that many downloads. I know it's not a big amount for alot of creators. To the creating gods, its nothing. But for me it seemed momumental. And now I've reached it.

I want to thank everyone that left such nice comments and encouraging feedback and of course, downloaded. It really helped me to keep doing what I love the most. Making the Sims 2 even more enjoyable to others because of my stuff.

Out of my 12 picked items, I know that at least 10 were earned the hard way. That is by having been downloaded, viewed and thanked so many times by all of you. They werent made picked items at random or whim. I appreciate that more than anything else.

As I've said before, at this point, I really don't hold my breath to have any of my items featured here at MTS2. So to know that it's the community that decided my items were top items, was the only thing that really counts.

Thanks for a great time here!
Love

It Really makes you wonder....

Date Posted: 25th Feb 2009 at 3:49 AM

I just noticed that items were nominated from the last Kids Creator Challenge. Some nice items were picked. Alot of nice items weren't picked. And now, at the risk of sounding unsportsmanlike, I am going to say what Im sure alot of people think. WTH? I'm not going to speak for anyone else in that challenge that got shut out. But I will speak for myself, and the category lots and decor. I had 4 submissions. My lot took about 2 weeks to create. It was the most downloaded lot. . Yet it wasnt even nominated. I'm not saying it should win, but not even nominated, when it was Downloaded more than any other lot does make me wonder why it was passed over.

I think maybe there is a disconnect from what I think is good work and what the mods think. I don't believe there is any bias towards or against any creator. So that just leaves a matter of taste and perhaps bias towards or against a certain look.

Either way, not much you can say about that.

New Apartment Series

Date Posted: 17th Feb 2009 at 4:56 PM

I just completed two in the builders series. What they are is a representation of builders showcases. I picked a few that I thought were really good, and recreated/added one of my own. There are 2 or 3 more I would like to do. I havent decided yet. They are an unbelievable amount of work. Granted, I am pretty anal about every little detail. Usually I don't add alot of custom content. So using Maxis only makes it even harder. Sometimes it could take me an hour just to decide on exterior paint lol. Well, almost.
Anyway, as much as I love building, I have to decide if I am going to upload anymore of them. It has to be worth the effort too. Sometimes I wonder if its not easier and more effective to make a box with a roof.

Another Urban Series

Date Posted: 28th Jan 2009 at 9:40 PM

My last one was the Living in SoHo. I really loved making those lots. If I wanted, I could probably make at least 10 additions. But enough is enough. The other night I ate in this restaurant which gave me an idea for another urban setting I would like to recreate. Its got a different feel and look then the SoHo.
I did some building in some other styles, like western, mediterranean. Theyre nice. The city scapes are my favorites though.
If I do this series I would do at least 10 I think. A community lot, residential and apartments. Maybe a university lot. I like making apartment style houses but hate the restrictions when actually making AL apartments.

Usually, for my own use I keep them residential, and only make one or two family apartments. Then I put on some of Inge's excellent lockable doors. Sure its technically all one family. But usually I do an extended family. Like a married kid coming back home and moving into a 2 family house .I may do that also, or make an apartment version and residential.

So stay tuned. I'll probably decide in the next month if I want to give it a shot or just play my Sims in spare time

Ok I've Had it with Sims 2

Date Posted: 22nd Jan 2009 at 2:12 AM

In the 4 or so years of playing Sims 2, I think the actual play time may boil down to a few hours. Theres ALWAYS a problem, if its not one glitch its another. I cant even count how many times Ive had to ditch my game and go to a back up. For example, how am I supposed to know that saving a lot while a sim is playing a hand held game could crash the whole game. Its just ridiculous and frustrating.
Finally, I was intending on playing the Sims with AL installed. Well, I had to go to my back up a gazillion time. Then I had one problem after another. An invisible sim with a bone missing. Half of my lots mysteriously gone. All kinds of BS.
So I decide to get some new lots for my Sims. I didnt feel like building anything-I JUST wanted to PLAY! So I DL a couple of lots. Nice big lots which I don't like to build. Fine, no CC.
Guess what? One of the so called no CC lot had aspiration rewards. CRASH. And this was a picked lot. I looked at the comments and sure enough, someone else complained about a crash but thought it was their computer.
Anyways, I tried everything to get rid of the lot but nothing helped. I couldnt even load the sims 2. I tried in Simpe. I deleted the lot from the catalogue. I finally gave up and went to my backup but heres the thing. None of my backups of N001 will work? My whole game is totally corrupted because of this dam lot. And I know its this one lot

You know, I was kinda reluctant to abandon Sims 2 because I love creating for the game and uploading here on MTS2. And since they werent going to host Sims 3, I might as well keep making Sims 2 stuff.

But now thats changed. I feel really bad about my Sims. But I am so sick of the stupid issues and downtime trying to make this game work. Not to mention 8-10 gigs on my hard drive. I am beyond frustrated.
At this moment, I don't even want to create anything. Maybe I'll just start playing something like Guild Wars. lol

What I'm Working On

Date Posted: 8th Jan 2009 at 1:18 AM

I just finished the last entry for the Kids Challenge. It was a jungle, tropical lot. And I threw alot in there. Theres a waterfall, AND a treehouse. It was really difficult making the terrain mountaineous and also hilly. Then there was the landscaping. That credit goes to the CC creators. Those guys made incredible creations. So thats it. My first challenge had 4 entrys. Way more then I ever expected to make. I didnt even know if I could do one. It was fun though and I enjoyed it. Now I have a shiny new icon , so Im happy.

When I made the rugs for the challenge it opened up some possibilities for me. Ive always been primarily a lot builder, and thats what I always will be. But I must admit, it was fun and challenging working with textures and creating something different. Also in a sense it was much easier. Once my textures were done, the finished product was easy to check, photograph and upload. For me, the hard work of a lot comes once its architecturly complete (word?). Im very fussy with decorating, landscaping and photos. Sometimes that takes me longer then the actual lot.

So for now I am attempting a couple of decorative items I may be doing a set afterwards based on that theme. But Im not sure if I am even going to pull it off. I would love to have at least one female celebrity. But all my attempts at simming have been only minimally successful. Plus I only make mask skins on Sims I dont plan on giving a family too. I hate infants that are born with makeup and eyebrows.

Then back to lots. I have one in mind that will take me a looong time. That should take me right to the end of February. From there I think its time to take a break and get back to my own neglected Sims

Sims 3 Creators

Date Posted: 31st Dec 2008 at 4:08 AM

I'm wondering if it will be even worthwhile to create for Sims 3. It seems so customizeable. And what about all the tools we use now? SimPe, Milkshape, HomeCrafter...They will be obsolete I guess.

It will be interesting to see how things go when S3 comes out. Will all the creators jump ship and start creating for S3? I dont know much going on for Sims 1 anymore. Will Sims 2 become a thing of the past?

That would be disappointing. For me personally, I am just starting to feel comfortable making stuff.

Well maybe I will just go back and actually play Sims 2 until all the kinks are worked out of 3. Im thinking Summer 09. Hopefully Sims 2 will be still popular and people still interested in custom creations.
