This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, Nightlife, Pets
Default How to Recreate Sims after Corruption on a Mac.
Hello,

My computer crashed while loading my custom neighborhood, and the entire neighborhood is now corrupt - half of the families disappeared, and the other half crash upon loading them. I plan on reinstalling the game, but am wondering if anyone has suggestions for recreating a particular family from the neighborhood. There is only one who that I really want recreated - my little sister's favorite. I have seen some posts on how to do this via a Windows operating system, however I have a Mac OS X unfortunately (e.g. http://boolprop.prophpbb.com/topic1944.html).

Does anyone have suggestions? For example, would I be able to upload the particular family's files and have a kind someone on a Windows system extract and package them for me?

It would be best to zip or rar the entire hood and upload it to one of the free upload sites like Media Fire.

PM me the link and the name of the family and I will do it for you.

I used to have to do that on a regular basis when I was on a Mac, and once I wrote up how I rebuilt, with all the tricks and tips I knew for making it go more smoothly. You can find the guide here if you're interested: http://esmeiolanthe.livejournal.com/16577.html

Since Marka is willing to extract your sims for you, that makes life like a million times easier. Hooray for kind people with Windows machines! But I posted a link anyway, just in case, because I would have liked to have one.

Only 6 sims was i able to retrive all the rest have been corrupted and I don't know if they can be saved.

I have a few ideas and will go test them out but here is the 6 for now.


ADD: Windows 7 has the ability to restore files to earlier time by right clicking on the folder, does Mac have the same option.

Only if Time Machine was set up first.

Thank you so much! This is wonderful. As a previous poster mentioned, time machine was not set up on my computer, since it is an older system and only used for gaming. I'm still sorting through the info that you sent in the PM to figure out what will work best.

Thank you for uploading the above families! Please don't strain yourself if the others seem without hope, my sister and I will try to recreate them.

I am about 40% through all the sims and found a dif family than what you said to look for and will upload them to after I am done.
