Well, it's ended up being the first one I finished. I still don't love it, but it'll do. In case it's not obvious, it's the beach house. I tried very hard to balance beachy with the lofty feel of my first house. Don't know how well I achieved that, but here it is.
The Masters' love the beach, so when they saw the old marina for sale, they had to buy it. They've left the exterior walls as they were, because they liked the marina feel the give. Inside they've redone almost everything. Though with the town planning rules against changing the stairs, they decided to keep the original wood floors and doors/frames as well, so all the wood matches (Except the doors to the outside, which are still original, but for some reason, never matched the rest of the wood).
Downstairs is the living room, kitchen and dining area, as well as a full bath.
They went with bright and airy colors. The shelves in the living room hold trinkets from their beach vacations. Steve created a side table from an old ships wheel they found at a flea market.
The dining area features a poster of their honeymoon locale, Twikiki Beach.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with reading nook looking out onto the balcony, a guest room for when Steve's younger sister comes to visit from college, a small office and another full bathroom.
The master bedroom bright and fun, just like Steve and Lynn. My 5 year old was watching me when I was decorating the bedroom. When I put the nesting tables in she said "Oh, yeah, those can be for their slippers!" So I had to put a pair of slippers on one of them
Small cozy office.
Out back, the pool wraps around a corner of the house. There's a grill, table and plenty of seating, both at the table and poolside.
This lot I had the hardest time picking what pics to post as well. So many little things I wanted to show, but I'm horrible with collages, so I just didn't
