Thank the heavens for getting the judge's comments before finishing, I fixed all those little details in my entry! Anyhow, Karen I am posting this for a third time, and YOU ALL WILL READ IT THIS TIME, Judge 3 deducted 1.5 points from me for not having a common phone and any trash receptacles, but I had both in my computer room. Anyhow, otherwise than that repeated frustration, I present to you all.......
'The Observatory' Shops A little bit of everything, all in one place.
This is my entry for the: One-Stop Shop. This building has quite an interesting backstory, which I made up for it, obviously. It was once an old bunker created back in the age of some sim's fear of the sim-alien invasion, where the sims hiding out from the aliens never had to leave the lot in search for food, because they were able to grow their own fruits and veggies. They soon fled from their hiding spot because they couldn't stand being vegans and all they wanted to eat was something that didn't grow out of the ground, or in a tree. When MCC announced the restoration of this old rubble of a building to the donators, my rich Miliken families, they all jumped at the spot, but demanded that the building be more science-y because it really had nothing to do with Science, but now here is the end product! The design of this building was inspired by the Curious' home in Strangetown. This building is meant for the Science sims to get a little bit closer to nature and for them to research everything from the ground to the stars, while still being another place for them to hang out!
This building is completely CC free, including floors and walls, meaning I am hopefully eligible for those extra 5 points! Out of the 20 extra walls: 8 + 8 were used to surround the elevators on the second and third floors, 2 were used at either side of the left side of the building (the straight and diagonal)(8+8+2+2=20).
I thought to myself, 'What is the first thing crazy people do when they are in fear of an alien invasion?', the answer is: aluminum foil, and lots of it. That is the reason of the metal-coloured Display items.
Another bright idea came to my head, and it was that Maxis gave us the wonderful Atomic set, which I put to good use. I thought lets get funky with it, and have it the inside look like a blast from the past, because that is essentially what the Atomic set is.
I had just one concern when looking at the requirements for this venue, it said "Male and Female Clothes Racks" and I realized that my game does not have those. So I realized that the only clothes racks in my game are unisex really, but I put a pink one to represent female and a blue one to represent male. Probably there are different gendered clothes racks available with H&M Stuff, which I don't have because I have a mac.
Did I forget to mention that this building is somewhat self-sustaining? Well the lightning rod at the top of the building (on top of the elevators) collects power from lightning strikes and transforms it into energy, which powers mostly everything in the building. The only thing that isn't self-sustaining, that the cowering sims just couldn't figure out how to do, is the plumbing because they just had no custom content to work with. So they had to accept the free water given magically in the sims world. Also, the only products that are needed to be shipped in to the shops is meat products and milk, because all of the produce is grown fresh in the farms and in the greenhouse. The greenhouse aids the growth of produce all year round, because they are unable to grow the produce outside during the winter!
