I have a strange little problem....

I'm not sure if the problem is with the fact that I have a "megahood" that is not by anybody on this site. I got it from here. I read through all of the comments and have not found anybody else with this problem. I also do not have a LJ account... So I was hoping the helpful, friendly staff here would be able to help me!

So, I have Belladonna Cove as my Main 'Hood, and I have Veronaville as a shopping district. I was moving in the binned Veronaville sims, and I have a problem with some of them. Particularly with Goneril, Albany, Regan, and Cornwall Capp. They can't get jobs! When I try for them to get a job, the message "Don't you need to work on your grades before you get a job?" comes up. However, Kent, who lives with Regan and Cornwall was able to get a job.

I haven't tried any of the binned Montys.

It's just extremely confusing, because I've had no problems with other binned sims, and none with CAS sims either. I have SimPe, and I'm willing to edit things with proper instructions.... I'm wondering if I should just give them their jobs through SimPe, but I didn't want to try that yet, until I got confirmation from here. :p

P.S.

I tried with Insim making them teens, and getting them jobs, and they got jobs. Then I aged all of them to elders, and they got jobs. I tested it, and aged them up, they retained the jobs, however, they retained the TEEN jobs, so... I would change their career levels, and they would be empty. The problem only seems to be with them as adults!

This is almost certainly one of your hacks, or two of them interacting negatively, so that makes troubleshooting relatively straightforward - back up the neighborhood and remove your hacks one at a time, or remove them all and replace them one at a time, as you prefer, until it works properly.

Then, if you really value that hack, put it back and remove all the remaining other hacks one at a time. If getting rid of one of those also fixes the problem, then the problem is a conflict and you get to pick which of the hacks you can live without.

You can comment and send e-mail through livejournal without being a member of it yourself, you know. I do it all the time.

All you can do is the best you can do.
(My most recent book is Sullivan, That Summer. In case you care.)

Be sure to backup your entire save game before you start removing CC. Here's the full procedure for finding your problem:

Oh! Sorry! I forgot to mention that I did do that! I found the hack that was the problem, and what it conflicts with. It's the "jobfixes" by pescado is conflicting with a combination of insim and inteen. The problem is all three of those hacks are very important to me. I also really want to play with the premade sims that are affected. I have also checked my other 'hoods the problem literally affects NO other sims other than the prenames I named above.

Would it be safe if I just gave them their jobs through SimPe? I wouldn't be giving them custom jobs anyway.

It sounds as if the game thinks that these sims are still in school or university. I don't suppose that they've been aged down to teens or young adults?

If you backup your save game, then it's perfectly safe to try giving them jobs using SimPE. If worse comes to worse, you can restore from your backup and everything will be back where it was.

No no. They are adults! I have played around with their ages with insim, and re-aged them up to adults. They still couldn't get a job that way. However, I have good news! It works giving them a job through SimPE!

I was just wondering, if this does come up with other sims, for any reason, how would I give them a custom job? Or would that not be possible? I wish I could fix the problem, but maybe it has something to do with how the sims were imported when Veronaville was made into a shopping district.

You can give a sim a custom job in SimPE if you know the GUID of the job you want to use and don't care about the job icon. Copy the job GUID, then paste it into the career tab in the spot that changes when you give them a job from the dropdown list.

You could also try adding a 1 to the beginning of the Jobfixes mod to make it load before insim and inteen, and see if that changes the way they interact.

I am Ghost. My husband (who made the account because I was too shy) is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.
