The custom content just isn't there, not even the two 'test' ones. The game loads fine etc etc. no problems, I've followed the instruction to an absolute T, again and again and again and again, even uninstalling and re-installing everything and it simply WILL NOT work. I only just got the sims 3 and all the expansions (save the 'stuff' stuff), so everything was all up to date BEFORE I followed the custom content guide. I then followed the guide absolutely word to word, EVERYTHING is in the right spot, users/documents/electronic arts/ the sims3 etc. Downloaded the 'resource' thing from the link given in the guide on this website. Also tried with and without the 'replacement' resource.cfg that you have posted on this thread time to time, and the custom content simply is NOT working. No there are no compatability clashes, I'm talking about the 'test' ones not even working. Yes I've double checked everything was up to date, both times I installed everything. YEs restarted computer, yes resources and mods is all spelt correctly, you guys wrote it after all. Yes it has all been extracted. Its all done to a T and its simply not working. Help |

Could you post the info listed at the bottom of this: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...les/Not_Working ? This gives us the info we need to figure out what's going on. |

Okay this is crazy, I believe I found the issue. For whatever reason, the game has never been using that file path, its been acting like a dummy path, I even deleted everything in it and the game still loaded up fine to prove it. Instead, the file path is %USERPROFILE% - *MY* Documents - Electronic Arts - The Sims 3 - Etc. When I put the mods file here, when I start up the launcher and hit play, I get the 'initialisation failed' error, I fiddled about and found that it will ONLY get the error when the Resource.cfg file is present, meaning its got something to do with that file. Is it not working because I'm forced to use a different file location? (Once again, I have tried reinstalling etc. but it will still use this file path for whatever reason) So can I just enter resource.cfg and change the file paths? And if so, what do I type and edit and stuff to get it to recognise the correct path? (as labelled above). Also, regarding deleting cache files, does deleting cache files delete your saved games and/or saved sims in library? NOTE: Just wanted to add that I did try and be cheeky by editing the 'My Documents' folder to read 'Documents', but when I load up the game it literally recreates the 'My Documents' folder, meaning it definitely recognising this as its only file path. |

The fact that %userprofile% is in the path means the install is corrupt. And only a reinstall would fix it. |
