Graphics card drivers still not updated? (Windows 10)
Hi. I updated to Windows 10 and got almost all my drivers through Windows Update. Lovely. However, it got AMD card wrong. I have dual graphics on my laptop (AMD Radeon HD 7450M + Intel HD Graphics on HP Pavilion G6 1304SM). On Windows 7 (my old system), in Device Manager, for AMD card it said "AMD Radeon HD 7450M". After I did a clean install of Windows 10, it now says "AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series".
In dynamic card switching mode (set through BIOS), I can't run Sims 2 or Sims 4 (only tried with those games). I can, however, run Sims 2 on Intel's card (by setting it so via CCC) surprisingly well, on high settings (!?) without blurriness, overheating or lag. (I haven't tested it with Sims 4.)
In fixed mode, I can't do anything with CCC (it only offers me a link to AMD's site). Under Device Manager, AMD is pictured with a yellow triangle and labeled "faulty and disabled by Windows". Again, Intel's card runs everything fine and efficient enough.
On the website I used to download drivers for my computer when I was running Windows 7, it now says that drivers should be available via Windows Update. No new drivers are available, and Device Manager says I have all drivers up to date when I try updating the cards there.
HP also says that it didn't test nor develop drivers for computers bought prior August 2013. (I got mine June 2012.) Well, thanks for the punch in the face, HP.
I'd been recommended leshcatlabs in the past, but I have no experience with any drivers and alike, and I'm afraid I'll ruin whatever I have left. I'm asking here if anyone has some extra knowledge about the site or which drivers to get? (Right now I'm fine even with leshcatlabs drivers disabling the switchable graphics, because I can't run my laptop on battery anyway.) Thanks for any help.

Ehh I didn't upgrade to Win10 yet (to avoid problems like this) so I'm not really sure if I can help. I'll try though.
Usually you should ONLY install drivers from your laptop manufacturer's website. What latop model number and brand is your laptop? If your manufacturer stopped providing drivers, then get them directly from AMD or NVIDIA. I've never heard of leshcatlabs but I get the idea.
Mismatching drivers may cause issues, but usually its just a software problem and can be reversed or nuked via full reinstall. I'd suggest taking a look at the this microsoft help: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
It gives instructions (apparently) on how to disable auto-installation of drivers.
So what I'd suggest is first check your manufacturer's website to see if they have Win10 drivers available. If not, check AMD's website. Then attempt to disable auto-installation of drivers. Then uninstall the AMD drivers Win10 installed and then install your own.

The reason I upgraded is because I first experienced this issue on an upgrade installation I did back in August, about a week after Windows 10 came out - so I rolled back to Windows 7. However, I kept experiencing issues regarding Windows Updates and them causing my computer to constantly enter reboot loops, without installing any of them successfully. I had no nerves to redo the 7 installation, so I upgraded a few months after. I was hoping the drivers would get a decent update, but alas, they remained packed as-is and thrown down the Windows Update chute.
This is my laptop manufacturer's website (the site I used to download drivers from while running Windows 7).
I'll try downloading the drivers from AMD website (hope I got the software right), and report back. I should say that I was told to visit that exact website before, when I was having display issues, but it returned an error saying that I have incompatible hardware. I'll try if the new OS made any difference.

Basically your manufacturer is saying they dont have drivers for Windows 10.
These are the drivers I think you should get: http://support.amd.com/en-us/downlo...Windows+10+-+64
The ones you linked to are for the Desktop GPUs, not laptop.

Ok, I'll describe everything I did since my last post.
[infobutton=text about experience with desktop drivers]I installed the desktop drivers first by accident. After installation, it still said "7400M Series" in Device Manager. Now the funny thing: usually after I put my computer to sleep (I rarely turn it off, it's mostly on sleep overnight and when not in use), it takes a solid minute for the computer to wake up (compared to Windows 7, where it used to wake up in a snap).
With desktop drivers, my computer wakes up instantly, but I receive a message that my display driver has crashed and has successfully recovered from the crash.
(I haven't experienced this message on "laptop" drivers, nor with Windows Update driver. Nor in Windows 7.)
I uninstalled the desktop drivers, rebooted, and installed the drivers you linked me to (and rebooted, again). Still, it says "7400M Series" in the Device Manager. The experience with the games is the same (and I tried running in compatibilty mode for 8, 7, Vista SP2 and XP SP3): it loads up 40 MB into memory and then doesn't do anything. But with Intel, everything starts, everything works, and there are no problems at all.

Sorry but I'm not really sure what else to do and it's kind of hard to assess these things remotely.
When you switched to fixed mode you said nothing runs at all, is that right? Did you try fixed mode with the drivers I linked to?
Are you running Windows 32bit or 64bit?

When I switched to fixed mode, I couldn't change GPUs via CCC as I used to on Windows 7 (there I would just click High Performance or Power Saving, the screen would flicker and GPU would change - on Windows 10 in fixed mode, CCC disables all the options, including the switch GPUs panel, so I'm left with an application that can only link me to amd.com, providing no functionality at all).
I also tried going to Device Manager and manually disabling Intel while on fixed mode - it made the hardware disconnecting sound, Intel was marked as disabled, but under Settings > Display > Display Adapter it said "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" (or something among those lines). Also, moving windows around the desktop was laggy. Switching back to dynamic mode fixed that.
x64.
