Okay. First things first: This is my first 'Serious' world, so I am very much a noob creator. If you see me doing something extremely wrong or terribly, please tell me so. I probably don't know better. I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to be posting here. "Small" mental back-story: Actual description: I'm basing the cliffs off of the parts of the Canadian Shield that you see from the highway. I.e., the parts bulldozed through. That's partially why I decided on a temperate climate, too, although it's not going to be all pines... I'm currently still on the sculpting stage, but I do have a few roads laid out where and as I imagine them. There's a small island that's going to be bridged to the mainland. Inside the U-shaped cliffs is the actual town: destroyed houses, overrun rabbitholes, etc. On the outskirts, there's going to be the Manor, the Science building (hand-built, since I'm not planning to have rabbitholes. Where does a grocery store get groceries at the end of the world? Also, rabbit holes spawn rabbits. Well, homeless.) a forest near the 'crying mountain' (I imagined the mountain to have a lake on top, but I don't know is that's possible without putting a lot around it) and a few destroyed cabins. Now, since I've been talking too much, I'll just ask for any post-apo road textures you may have (overrun with grass and so on) and if you can suggest the proper way to paint the cliffs, > If you don't mind my asking, would someone installing a world need to also install the terrain paints? Once again, I'm a noob. If I do something wrong, feel free to shove it into my face and force me to fix it. I'll probably be grateful. Below is a picture of what I have. I haven't even finished the cliffs yet. It's a medium sized world, height 300. I think I might have overdone it with the height. :L If I forgot something, I can add it. I'm going to need to find out how to do distant terrain for medium-sized, or at least this world. Did I mess everything up by not thinking of that first? EDIT: Forgot the pictures. ![]() ![]() |

It looks great so far, I'll add it to my Apocalypse post as a 'one to watch'. I have some bad news for you. Distant terrain is designed for large world so i think it will be difficult to place (maybe if you used multiple, overlapping) Good news is that you can create custom distant terrain, there's a tutorial here but it depends on your skills really. Goodluck |

Oh, thanks! I'll look into the custom distant terrains. (: (Even though I haven't done meshing, ever. This may take a while.) |

You could put a lot on top of the mountain for lake and if you label it 'Hidden Tomb' in CAW it won't show up on the map in game or in 'Edit-Town'. |

Hmm. Yeah, I have heard of being able to put 'Hidden Tombs' but I wasn't sure exactly how one would do that. Thanks. EDIT: I worked on it a bit today, got more of the cliffs done, changed the colour because I HATE the basegame grass. It's hideous in large amounts. And it's not very evergreen-foresty. I may revert, though...I also added a cliff perch for everyone's favorite millionaire and planned out a few more of the mountains. Image in spoiler because I'm not even sure if it's needed. SECOND EDIT: I am still working on this. I have exams coming up, though, so I probably won't do much until the week after next. |

I'm back! And I'm going to try to learn to paint the world now. This may take some trial and error. I'm also thinking that the ridges are a bit much. Comments/tips? |

I love the landscape of your world. I've been wanting a post-apocalyptic world for a while

Thanks! ^.^ I've been spending my time learning to paint the cliffs properly, because although nice and so on, I just don't know which colours to choose, how to layer and so on... This world, I can guesstimate, may take up to two years. Jaylo, you may need to wait a bit more. XD |

Actually, I'm probably going to pause this and work on another that doesn't require as much skill; I will get back to it, however, within the year. |
