Default Sims 1 Download Section?
Has anyone thought it would be cool if modthesims added a Sims 1 Download section?

It sure would be cool! But I don't think a lot of people create for Sims 1 anymore.

you mean you don't lust after death? you don't wanna go on a romantic cruise to hell with death? you don't wanna give death an oil massage?

They really should add that. Maybe people don't create, but there's still a lot of interest in it. If we created a section, I'm sure we'd find ourselves a lot of new content. I know I've been looking for Silent Hill stuff for the Sims 1 all day. Since most Sims 1 sites from back in the day are gone, and the ones that are still around no longer update, I vote we start a Sims 1 modding community right here.

Edit: If not, we could always turn this thread into one.

That's not how it works here, Mashuga.

You'd have to talk to a moderator about it, but I presume that the reason the Sims1 downloads were taken down was that they cost more than they were worth to maintain. Bandwidth's not free, you know.

MTS never had a Ts1 download section, the site was started right at the beginning of Sims 2 in 2004. CTO Occasions has an active Sims 1 community, they archive old sites content and there are still a lot of creators for Ts1, it is just they like many creators for Sims 2, and Sims 3 have moved from larger sites like MTS, TSR, BPS, (or in the case of Sims 1, Natural Elements, Gookabeez etc) to Tumblr, Blogspot, and Wordpress or Livejournal.

I don't know. My guess is that there aren't lots of people still making content for Sims 1. Perhaps if they were, MTS would host a section. As it stands, the sites are mostly closing down although there's still a fair bit of content out there, especially through CTO.

I'm not sure if I'll have the time but I'm pretty bent on starting some CC for TS1. I have a few ideas of more complex things, but with work and college it's mostly not feasible. Plus I have another (non-sims) project people are waiting on being updated so I've got to get done with that first. Maybe in the future I'll be able to join one of those sites and see how active they are. My experience on Simblesse Oblige late last year was a fairly positive one and the group seemed enthusiastic about the prospect of modding the .exe, however the issues with decompiling it makes it a gargantuan task on it's own. The C++ i'm taking is bound to help out but I don't think I'm ready to jump on board something like that just yet. I'll probably look back into it in about a year or so. Until then I've got at least three major projects I've procrastinated so I think I'll probably go back to mostly lurking.

I'd like it too, but like others have said, while many still play the game, most creators have moved onto newer games. If you're looking for CC for TS1, then TSR, simszone, ATS and a bunch of other sites have content, although they're not really updated anymore.

Please feel free to start a WCIF thread. People have posted questions like that already and, if the community is able, they've responded. Could you describe what Silent Hill things might be? There might be a workaround with some other thematic things depending on what it is that you're looking for (unless it's heads - that might be tough).

I've been looking for some good wallpapers/flooring for a midwich school lot and some doors/windows. I've been using some of Viv's creations so far for furniture and Olena's Vampire: The Masquerade set. But It's not really coming together. And as far as heads go, there's only one geometric shape I'd like to see as a head. There's been plenty of Pyramid Head skins for TS2 & TS3, but I've never seen one even attempted in TS1. I've got milkshape and Paint Tool Sai though, so in the end if I wasn't able to find one I was considering making one for the community.

Those links are fabulous, Mashuga31. I'm glad you put them up in case anyone else is looking for something similar. They're amazing finds, in fact. I've never seen them before.

I'm still all confused by the whole "Silent Hill" and "Midwich School" and if I saw what it was you were looking for, I could keep an eye out when I'm out on the net looking for things to download. Could you post links to those things...so I get the theme? Is it all Steampunk stuff?

I'm surprised you aren't familiar with Silent Hill, but sure thing. ^^

Viv & Olena's stuff are always amazing though. Notably her Fallout 3 set on the latter.

Yikes! So, now I know why I'm not acquainted with Silent Hill. Horror! The horror things I've seen in the past for The Sims were a lot tamer, but, if I'm getting this, this is edgier, bloodier, more creepy horrifying horror. I'll keep my eye open and post if I see something. I think you've done an amazing job finding stuff so far.

TSR might have some items, though...there's always weird stuff related to Halloween like dismembered heads and such.

Thanks for the links (now I'm going to wash my eyes out with peroxide).
