Ok, so we have three scores ready. One more to go. There's one director who will not be participating in this due to an ailment.

Sorry about that - that's me. I've been all of March and still not better. I was really hoping to be able to judge the last round. But it's gotten the better of me - no focus.

Oh Kiri - I'm so sorry you are still unwell! You are at the top of my prayer-list - you'll get better, I know it!!!
I'll pass around the chicken soup to all who want it (Thank you Jones - it was much better than the canned kind!) I'm switching to a Z-pack this afternoon. Goin' to the Dr at 4pm. ...When it's green (and bloody) it's past time to go, you know!
Ickle-me will be better soon *sigh*

TOWN CONTRACT #4 Scores (Part 1 of 2)
TOWN CONTRACT #4 - Results (Details)
Thank you all for your submissions to this last town contract. These are the details of the scoring,
along with an image of what the judges used to determine your score. The
following post is a breakdown of your company's spending for the round.
- - - - - NOTE - - - - -
Some scoring in Sections C, M, & N have been revised by myself to accurately reflect
the conditions set out in the round. They will be noted with brackets " [ ] ".
Additional comments from myself are also noted in brackets to explain the revisions.
Due to an ailment from one of our directors, the scores in brackets " ( ) "
have be added in place of that director's score. The number of points received in lieu of
that director's score has been placed using a geometric mean of the four submitted scores
rounded down to the nearest whole number for each section, except for TTL.
Holey-moley am I ever speechless for your entry! I was really unprepared for what to expect in your design, and after closer inspection I am just amazed. I really adore all the foliage and the "elite" atmosphere that you provide to your resort, which really suits the requirements for this round, and it really looks like a place that I would want to visit. Of course I would probably not be able to afford it though. I really enjoy the use of all the pool tiles along with the private cabanas, as well as the beach-access behind the lot and the sunbathing equipment. The only sort of issue I could find was that there was not an inclusion of a pool bar or public drinks-area of any sort, however I decided to not dock you points as your resort is more directed towards the private lifestyle of each of the huts, and it seems that room service is a given. This is the same for privacy guarantee which you succeed at providing so well, in my opinion. I am glad that you have taken everybody and everything, including the 'local' climate, into consideration as you provide an amazing and unique design which is really an overall "wow" for me!

I am really impressed by your entry for this round, as it really suits your idea of an adults-only resort, and it provides such a sense of relaxation where I can imagine anybody say "I am in dire need of this vacation!". To reiterate, you did a stupendous job designing a Mediterranean-themed hotel, as all the amenities and services included in this hotel for the guests are to die for. My favourite part of your hotel by far is the inclusion of that pool-garden fountain at the rear of your building, as I can see the amount of effort you have put into it and it has definitely payed off in my opinion. I can really tell that you have spent a lot of time designing the perfect hotel, especially since I can not find any issues with it, I love all of the greenery, the layout, as well as the little touches you have done to make it the resort of everyone's dreams. The only minor concern I has was about your lobby area feeling rather empty, however it does not catch my attention since my eye is drawn elsewhere, so it's not huge at any chance. I honestly wish that this hotel existed in real life, since it would constantly be the talk and showcased all over social media!

Very interesting entry, since your choice to include a boardwalk is a very unique idea that sets your design apart from the rest. I really like the Bed&Breakfast feel that your design showcases pretty well, since I enjoy all of the colonial and well-aged furnishing touches as they create a unique sort of atmosphere. My only issue with your entry was about your stacked columns to your rear of the building, since I know that BG doesn't provide the two-floor columns, though I feel that you could have probably filled in those gaps in between somehow, possibly through the extension of the rear balcony. I really appreciate the inclusion of the two types of pool, as swimming under the boardwalk is obviously a liability for your hotel, as well as the greenery surrounding the building and the flower and fountain arrangement out front. I still feel like you could have added a few shrubs out front around the driveway, however I am not docking you points for not doing so. Overall, I like the impression that this hotel gives me, yet it is not one of my favourites from your company, but it is still an impressive entry and I feel that it suits this round's requirements quite well, as I know clients will still be drawn here.
[Section C has been revised to properly reflect the single beds counting as two beds being 1 people to sleep per bed = 2 people to sleep.]
[Section N has been revised to properly reflect the lack of smoke alarms in the guest rooms.]

Very interesting design choice, it reminds me immensely of the architecture of South Beach in Miami, if that's where you drew your inspiration from. You have done an excellent job at creating an atmosphere which feels as if from the past! I love the colour palette, which is reflected throughout your entire with your furniture choices as they are tied to the era in spirit. I somewhat enjoy your hotel rooms designed to suit the 'generic' idea of hotel rooms, and I strongly agree with your inquiry to why they're outside in basically all normal hotel rooms. I really like the dance and drinks area at the top of your building, and I should mention that I also appreciate your attempt to have diamonds/squares incorporated throughout the entire building. Honestly, my only issues are that I felt that you could have maybe added a bit more art or something to the second and third floor halls as they feel quite bare, and I also noticed that you had no diving board or pools provided in the back for your pool. I also felt that you could have added just a little bit more greenery, seriously just like another one of those tree and plants arrangement that you already did, however your amazing facade and floor plan swayed me in another direction. I think this is still my favourite entry for this round, possibly even this competition, even though it has a few faults though I am certain they were not intentional, and I know it suits the requirements well, you did an excellent job.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
This is a very interesting, unique and impressive design, as I can see the amount of effort you put into it. I really like its U-shaped layout along with the exterior greenery, which I feel give the impression that your building's focus is to draw people into it and explore what it has to offer. I really like your entire first floor, including the plan's layout, as I feel that it really matches the theme that you're going for and I like the warm and maroon colour-tones throughout, as they are incorporated into the environment you create for your building. My only issue there is those two bright-red double-doors, to the rear which stand out amongst the darker, maroon windows and other doors. I strongly feel that you should have made the effort to use the same doors, like those maroon glass double-doors to your check-in and sitting area, where possible on the exterior or at least doors of the same colour, which I would have less a problem with, as the red ones just don't work with the theme that you're going for. This feeling continues onto the second floor, where all of your guest rooms just don't work. By that I mean that your choice to do colours, in my opinion, was not beneficial at all since it does not tie in at all with the theme you were going for on your exterior and first floor, I strongly suggest using a choice of furniture that matches what you have done so far as it would have had a much better outcome. I also am not a big fan of those large rooms, as I think you could have still partitioned them in such a manner to give the same effect, I really recommend looking at all the other contestants' entries and see how their rooms all match their overall hotel theme. I think that if you just changed a few things, it could have been even more better than it already is, as you seem to suit the requirements well.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I am glad that you decided once again to use your Veronaville-esque inspiration, and I am glad that you honoured your conditions throughout this competition. I honestly think you should have reduced the number of your floors by one, as your entry appears as if it's suffering from too much excess-space. I say this since it seems that many your rooms appear overly massive, and the inclusion of two bathrooms to each of your rooms makes no sense either. I strongly suggest viewing other contestants' entries as I think your hotel is lacking of any sort of theme, and does not have the best suitable arrangement. I have the least amount of problem with your first floor, as it seems the best planned, and I like the exterior yard and the trees you provided. I still feel that you could have included some amenities to the exterior of the building, along with some shrubs, as I feel like you could have had more to do in that backyard of yours. Although your design has a few flaws, and your stereo in your disco seems to be turned against the wall though I assume that's just a simple error and won't dock you for that, I still think that you made your best attempt at fulfilling this round's requirements, however I must stress that you should make sure your future designs are to the demand of your clients to your best ability.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Very impressive build and I think this is an amazing and unique idea of a resort, as well as it was executed stupendously. I think you created an incredibly moroccan-like atmosphere throughout your entire design, since every aspect works perfectly with one another. I still feel though that your entry was lacking of a few finishing touches that could have made it even better, like a bit more wall decorations in the halls of your resort. Like I was expecting at least one wall tapestry. I really like the inclusion of those exotic gardens, however I think that you could have also made the effort to change the pool walls and floors to match the tile scheme/colours of the rest of your hotel. I know it's more money, yet I think it would be much more effective at delivering your overall image, since this sort of architecture is known for its fantabulous mosaic-tile fountains. The actually only building flaw I noticed was that you had a dining area, yet no kitchen or serving table so I question the realism there. I also think you could have transferred some of that greenery to the second and third floors of your hotel, yet that's not as big of a concern in my opinion as you still succeeded in an intuitive manner for this round.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
This is really a "wow" entry for me, even though I don't feel that it ideally suits the requirements for this round. The reason why I say this, is that even though you included all of these amenities, along with the 'family-friendly' environment, your design feels more targeted towards the middle-class rather than the wealthier people. However, It still seems that these chalets would be quite pricey, so I am settling to think of it as upper-middle class. Otherwise than that, there is not a single thing wrong with this build as I adore every aspect for it, and I think it caters to your clientele quite well. I think your choice of colours really benefits the appearance of your resort, along with the stone tile arrangement and the additional playground, which really shows all of the little touches you incorporated into your design. I really enjoy that you attempted to fill spaces in a good manner, as I was given the feeling that it wasn't too bare yet not too crowded at the same time. Indeed an overall outstanding job, and deserving of reward nonetheless.

[Section N has been revised to properly reflect the presences of smoke alarms in all guest rooms.]

As the only contestant who decided to give their hotel more than 4 rooms, with a total of 5, you clearly show some desire to go above and beyond the expectations for this round. Which is demonstrated quite perfectly to me by your front façade, which I absolutely adore! I think you did an excellent job at keeping the consistency in all of your rooms' furnishings and they tied to the theme quite well. I really enjoy the greenery and garden space to the rear of your building as it really showcases multiple uses of all of your property. I was not a big fan of the red-white change of your exterior walls, and I have a similar feeling with your interior foyer as I would suggest sticking to two walls that change, not three, as I would suggest you choose between the fully-paneled wall, or the half-paneled with blue paint to go with the granite. I still liked those walls, I just felt as if it was too much to be honest. I really get the impression as if this was a historic mansion converted to a hotel, as it showcases so many fabulous qualities of architecture quite well. I think your company has outdid itself for this round, and it is one of my favourite entries in this round as well.

Thank you all for your efforts in participating with this contest. These past three & a half months, I hope, have been a fun & enjoyable experience, one of learning & trying new things. I don't believe we've had a contest like this in the past, it's certainly a new way of scoring with simoleons, rather than ordinary points. I know that there have been times when it seemed overwhelming to read the town contracts, there were lots of details to examine. Some of you were attracted to the allure of finance. I appreciate the fact that even though arithmetic may not be the strong point for some of you, you've still continued to play along, despite the challenge this would posed.
One of the things I've learned about this competition is that simoleon prices change on certain items & with different official game setups, even though the properties were never occupied. That Moneywell Computer was an interesting object. One thing I also didn't expect & learned was that some of you live in 12 hours away in different time zones. I hope it wasn't very inconvenient waiting for responses to questions. Additionally, in hindsight I should have provided Excel sheets from the beginning of the competition to make calculating your company's construction costs easier.
I'd like to thank some folks who've help to make this competition possible. ModTheSims & ModYourPanties for use of their servers for images & forum space in this sub-forum for the three & a half months. I'd like to thank our moderator, justJones, who approved this contest, & having it exist exclusively here, despite it lasting longer than the expected two to three month timetable.
There's also Honeywell, ekrubynaffit, CatherineTCJD, & trambling101 for helping to pass word about this contest to other Simmers, & more specifically in finding directors. I feel there are others I may have missed out, please forgive me, do state your dues below, & I'll amend this closing remarks. As well, I'd like to thank our volunteer Board of Directors for their time to dedicate in examining the properties, it got more involving with the last contract due to all the tiny specifics asked for. Also, with some sections being quite subjective & leaving it to be interpreted by the directors, I'd imagine it was a different experience, one that may have been somewhat difficult to make decisions on & to write down their thoughts on certain entries.
As a small token to those who finished the contest, please accept (download from the attachments) your exclusive-to-use-and-distribute Monopoly Game Town Certificates. These are in the form of a decorative wall hanging & can be found in that section of The Sims 2 Buy Mode catalog. I shall PM you all the Password to your certificate. As the recipient of the certificate, only you will have the privilege of distributing it as you please without need for crediting of the certificate's designs.
The certificates cost one hundred simoleons. Each certificate possesses the name of the construction company, & the amount of simoleons left in your company's coffers. They are also signed by myself (d_dgjdhh) & the Town's Mayor, Mr. Milburn Pennybags. I hope everyone will consider the opportunity to package their entries for the Downloads section of ModTheSims, I know some of you have already done so with entries that were not submitted, or were modified. As an idea, perhaps you can also display the certificates in your company's office as a small memento of the contest.
I imagine that some may be interested in leaving feedback about their experience with this competition, & so I'd like to know what could have been changed & improved from this competition. How would you have run this contest differently, for example. Let us know, since your feedback can be useful for future contests like this that use simoleons as a factor of scoring participants. Perhaps in the audience there are folks who've watched & taken notes about what they can do & not do.
So, for all the real estate development companies here, the Town relieves your company from service to its citizens. Thank you, & farewell. You may leave your temporary offices that were constructed the beginning of the year.

Thank you for taking the time to put together a really great and different contest d_dgjdhh. The maths side lost me-which Is why I ended up in last place! But I am fine with that, I enter contests to build and decorate which I had fun doing.
I'm not sure what the password is for? I downloaded the certificate without needing to do anything but click on the link.

You obviously did not extract it, lol.

Ah, okay now I see! You're right I didn't try and extract it. very clever.
Edit: it's not working. It tells me it failed in the encrypted file. I copied and pasted the password you pm'd me into the password box.
PS. My lobby is open in the hope that housekeeping will not get stuck, but knowing how they are, they will probably dislike my front door and freeze there.

I did, certificate 09. I pm'd you back to see if the password is correct. At the end of the error message it says corrupt file or wrong password.
Tried downloading the file again, still won't open.

It's so upsetting for that thoughtful message D, thanks so much!
To everybody else, you all did outstanding jobs and I so glad to have sacrificed time of my life (which would have been spent procrastinating otherwise) judging this contest! Even to the fact that I felt closer to playing sims just by looking at all of your beautiful entries. Thank you all, and especially you too D, for giving me the opportunity to do so and I hope this was a positive experience for everybody!
P.S. It is almost time to crack open those bottles of champagne!!

I hope everyone else isn't having troubles extracting their certificates. Once you get them in your game, perhaps you can show them here!

Congratulations, Caitawesome - you deserve this win! Your lots are all a huge inspiration to me.
Also, congratulations to all the other contestants - and thank you for being there, always willing to help, always willing to give advice, and always full or surprises with every round. Your guys have been forcing me to push my boundaries.
D, thank you for hosting, for the certificates and for all the patience with us. Thank you, Judges! I have learned tremendously - although I have not used my new found knowledge in the contest yet, you will see me using things (like CFE!) which I have avoided almost completely in the past.
Third place - I am still a bit in shock about that one (yet I know it is because I can count rather than build ) I do think all contestants here are winners, and all deserve that champagne of Seth.
I also want to congratulate those who have not completed the contest - especially Amura, since I am quite sure she would have pushed me down to 4th place.
Sepila botse till we meet again!

Congratulations Caitawesome!
As with Jo maths is my downfall! But I did enjoy building and decorating, so thank you for that, d_dgjdhh.
Hey and watch out for the next contest, it's just around the corner!

Want a specific style of house or community building? Why not take a look at my profile and see what I build and then come ask me to make it!

Congratulations Caitawesome, and well done to everyone! I must say I am well pleased with my second, considering I was almost dead last at one point!!
Im also loving my comments on the last lot, there was plenty of times I second guessed it and thought Id made a grave mistake in using it! And Im thankful you didnt dock for no bar/drinks area, as there is one (upstairs just outside the door of the restaurant area before you head onto the viewing platform)
And thankyou as well for my award, look forward to displaying it in my game!
