Default Night Club business?
Hey guys. My main sim owns 3 level 10 businesses, which are very profitable. A big car sales lot, a furniture store and an arcade with lots of stuff.

I want to make a nightclub and run it. But I have a few questions in my head that I need to resolve before starting building.

I want a realistic night club, not like the maxis bars, with an attached restaurant or that spinning thing , a pool table and things that generally don't belong in a bar.

So I'm left out with the bar area, a dj bouth and the eventual toilets. What I'm afraid of is that there are "too little things to do" on the lot. Which means that less needs can be filled there and the less the hourly charge will be. Maybe something like 20-30 an hour MAX unlike my arcade that has tons of stuff (121 an hour, but I kept it realistic). And this way advancing through the levels will be really slow and the money used to buy the lot will never be returned. That's what I'm afraid of.

Has any of you had a successful night club business? Please share advice and info with me. I wanna build a realistic night club, run it and profit.

Thanks in advance.

Here's what I do when I build a night club.

Build the basic shell of the lot, usually two stories high. Then on the inside I have toilets on the top and the bottom.
On the bottom floor, there is a bar. A very long one, with plenty of seats. Then I have that 'spinny' thing. Sometimes I have two of them, not sure if that directly affects the hourly profits. Then some darts boards around the pool tables. Then on the upstairs I have a few bowling alleys. I don't always do that... Then I put a few more pool tables around. Very profitable, something around 100 an hour.

Hope that helped, as that should be very profitable.

I don't think a pool table will be out of place in a night club, and Sims like to play it, so you shouldn't leave it out.

Sims also enjoy hot tubs, though I never saw those in real night clubs.

Amarani - Maybe hot tubs could be part of a little roof entertainment area... on the roof?

A bar and a night club are two different venues in my mind. For a bar I would expect to find a juke box, pool table, darts--even a band and food if you're really ambitious.

For a night club it's all about dancing so the DJ booth and the spinning thing would be right at home. Also a brightly lit bathroom area with vending machines and some seating so people can get away from the "noise" of the club also seem realistic to me.

As for the level 10 business, any business is easy to get to level 10 once you know how, which you do. So don't worry about it--build the lot you want to. Sims will come to the lot and stay no matter what's on it--they'll even look at posters for fun. Good luck!

With a transparent high glass ceiling over the hot tubs, supported by metal columns (in case it rains) and a panorama of a night city in front of you, with blinking lights and stuff...oh yes, I can picture it alright :P

Ok... so a bar with some pool tables and card tables is a good idea then? But I'll need to make two separate areas, one for "the main dance floor are with dj and bar" and the other with a casino atmosphere.

Will this work?

Someone mentioned bowling allies and hot tubs and this sounds rediculous! common! where have you seen that!?!

Anyway, has anyone did such a business? How profitable was it for you? Usually the better quality of fun you offer on your lot, the higher the hourly fee and customer loyalty building is faster.

Once I made a gym, the hourly fee was 32 on normal... It took me 3 days of playing to reach lvl 10... All I could offer there is exercise, a little food and showers. But my arcade took only one day to reach level 10, cause it had the best stuff, large TVs etc...

But I cant predict how things will go with a bar.

What I've already said. It's very profitable, about 100 and hour, sometimes a bit less. Depends on how much fun can be had there and if there are enough toilets for every sim.
Also, whenever I've tried a nightclub/bar I can get to level 10 in 5/6 days. I usually stay on the lot for 6 hours.

At my nightclub, I believe I got $60/hour, but I never jacked the price up to 'expensive' because I was using a sleep on community lots hack so the lot owner could spend as much time there as he (I) wanted. I had a small arcade, bar, pool tables and a hot tub out back, which you can see for yourself since I uploaded it under the brilliant name of Club DJ.

Just as a side note, I work in a hotel with an attached nightclub and an attached tavern - both have pool tables in them.

The tavern also has flatscreen televisions in it for sports games.

Both places also serve food along with drinks - the nightclub is a more restricted menu than the tavern, so maybe one of those little kiosk things from BV and FT?

True enough, no hot tubs in either one. I would suggest maybe a stage for a 'live band' performance in the club? Both places have those.

Hope this helps!

God I miss OFB. Anyhow, one thing to remember is to hire enough staff. I had one of my guys have a nightclub, and he only had one employee to do the dj:ing, and it worked fine becuase then I could have him handel the bar. But it was completely un-playable when visiting it with somebody else, as he constantly kept assigning the dj to bar, then to the ticket machine to sell, then bar again, then selling again. There was never any music in the bar becuase the dj job was always the least important in his mind. Also when he would re-assign her away from the dj work, the dj booth (from the hobbie ep) would become un-selectable, becuase according to it, the dj was still using it, even thou she wasn't. So if you run into this problem, then use the normal dj booth.

So in the end I had to hire also a bar tender, as well as a big fellow as a bouncer to do the ticket sellling. I had the mod that managers don't assign people but in this case it wasn't working properly.

Indeed, I've just checked its website. So I guess we can safely include a swimming pool and jacuzzi and claim it a realistic Sims club

If you can stomach horrible music, put in a dance floor and a lot of musical instruments. (Make sure you don't have any hacks that prevent sims from playing for tips.) You can even add a karaoke machine if you have the right EP for it. Sims will pay for the privilege of spending all night playing one of the instruments, and if you have a community skilling hack they will even get better.

I make a bunch of nightclubs on my community lots, sometimes I add a hot tub to the roof part, other times I just make them on small lots and add the DJ booth and alot of neon lights, sometimes I put pool water around the dance floor, or in a cool pattern on the floor ^^ in certain nightclubs I have the fire shooting(?) things outside..along with neon colored letter lights spelling out the name of the club. =D

Be very careful with the fire jets on an owned lot- they do start fires!
