Help with Batman skin! :D
Hey guys!

So, I've recently found this really cool Batman skin pack by Neko Sims (I think that's who it's by, I don't know since the link for the skins doesn't work anymore) and in it I found this perfect Batman outfit:

[IMG][/IMG]

It's nice outfit.... buuuut... the only thing I'd like to change is the logo:

[IMG][/IMG]

Is it possible to ''erase'' that particular area and paste this on there:

[IMG][/IMG]

I'm a sucker for the simplistic Bat logo and the New 52 has a great one which I'd like to use... if it's possible.

I'm sorry if I'm rambling or speaking nonsensically, I don't know a thing about modding and I'm in desperate need of some expert help!

Thanks a lot guys!

Haha I found it a second ago whole looking in the ''Batcowl'' thread

Looks pretty sweet, but my question still remains - maybe for future reference - is it possible for you to erase certain elements on an outfit and which program (I guess :P) is the right match?

Thanks venusprincess! :D

when the image you want to erase is just a stencil, it's easier. you just need to delete the file (i think, i never actually done it with stencils)
i'm not very good at explaining, but you need to
1-open the file in S3PE 2-find the stencil file by clickung on the files on the left,
3-delete the file
4-save package

if what you want to erase is on the base texture, you need to
1-open the file is S3PE 2- find and extract the texture as a .dds extension
3-open the .dds files in a photo edit program (dont close s3pe)
4-import them back to S3PE in the same place you exported by replacing the file.

you can also use tsr workshop instead of s3pe. it will save as sims3pack but you can convert to package with delphys Multi-Extracter.

delphy's CTU is good to, but you need to keep the original package or it won't show in game. tsr workshop copy's the mesh

s3pe: http://modthesims.info/t/362412
free photo editor: http://www.gimp.org/
plugins for dds files on gimp: http://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/
delphy's ctu: http://modthesims.info/d/364926
tsr workshop: http://www.thesimsresource.com/workshop
Multi-Extracter: http://modthesims.info/d/364038

maybe these can help.

yes its possible. but i cant teach you the basics. read this and judge for yourself if you still want to edit the logo
prerequisites for your project would be
A: backup the costume by making a copy. put it in a projects folder as "original batman costume" or whatever. so its not lost if your edit makes it worse LOL)
the folder is also important cause you need a place where you put your files in that you can easily browse and find. you will end up with several files you need to keep track off!
B: get you a painting program that reads dds files.i recommend paint.net (its free and has the feature included) you can get you awesome photoshop later ;-) http://www.getpaint.net/download.html
C: you also need s3pe http://www.den.simlogical.com/denfo...php?topic=189.0
D: these tools have their own prerequisites. you need to download / install more than the tools only!

in short:
you need to open the batman outfit package with S3PE and then find the IMG files in it.
export the IMG files that have the logo on it, one after the other. (those files are .dds files. export them by right click on the IMGs and say => EXPORT TO FILE) in your newly created projects folder
dont rename them - its really important that the dds`s file names stay as they are.
oh and dont you make changes to other stuff in that package, ok? be careful.

open the dds file/s in ... paint.net for editing the logo. one after the other i would say.
=> remember you need to edit all logos on every outfit, so you may have to repeat the next steps for all the IMGs that have the "old logo" on it.
1. get the logo stencil clear by painting it all yellow id say. it already looks bucketfilled as far as i can see so theres nothing you can do wrong here use the pipette tool to get the exact yellow colour
2. add a layer to the batman outfit image
3. open the pic of the better batman logo seperate. than cut out the batman logo you like better and paste it on the new layer you created for the pic of the batman costume
4. find the correct position for the logo on the yellow area. [=> i suggested doing this in a new layer cause you can better edit the edges of the logo if they arent that perfectly cutted and smooth them at the edges or smudge them a bit... without smudging the whole costume. maybe you cutted them perfectly than skip that step. you could also adjust the layers transparency a wee bit if you want to have a lesser pasted onto look.] if the logos position is fine you can
5. merge (aka combine) the layers. if you forget this you cant save them as dds. and you have to!
6. make sure you save this dds with its original name ( yes overwrite the old dds!) and that you really save it as dds!!!

now you have to concentrate even more!
back to s3pe.
you need to reimport the dds`s you improved. but this will overwrite the old dds files. so be aware that you replace for example dds XXXX2000378 with dds XXXX2000378
to do so right click on the first IMG like you did before for exporting but now choose IMPORT FROM FILE and choose the CORRESPONDING dds from your projects folder. a window opens cause S3PE will ask you if you want to replace them. yes, thats what you want.you have to click OK
replace all the IMGs files so that you end up with only awesome batman costumized logos in the end. oh and save the package!

if the costume looks bad in game. sorry. good to have a backup then

venusprincess !!! you have no idea how long that took me!!!! argh LOL
i am not removing it. i simply smile

Well, I'm back :D

I was super busy for the past 2 weeks and I haven't had the time to fully try it out...

I did today and it worked!

Sort of... Haha It's obviously still a work in progress, I have to shorten the black surface around the neck and stabilize the logo a little and I'll be good to go

Then I have to figure out how to do the Batcowl And how to paste the Utility belt from Shokonino! - http://38.media.tumblr.com/5db672a2...7muso4_1280.jpg

Mega, awesome thanks go out to venusprincess100 and shmovese. You guys are awesome!!

since the belt from shokonino is not a texture, it has a mesh, you need to separate the mesh from the outfit and make it as an accessory or add the mesh to your outfit as a different lod.
if you want to add it to the outfit.
-you need to open the shokonino mesh in milkshape and delete the outfit, so that you have only the belt.
the tricky part are the morphs, i always screw up with the morphs
-you also need to extract your outfit meshes and morphs. and import the meshs with CTU to a new package
-on CTU you need to import your mesh as lod1-1 and the belt as lod1-2

here are some tutorials that might be usefull:

if you want to make the belt into an accessory you can use this tutorial:

hey nice to see you made progress on your project and reported back!
sadly i have no experience with meshing for sims 3 (the only program i have is nifskope for skyrim) but i only used it for changing textures on meshes not for meshing :-( but the links venusprincess gave you are great. and theres always the possibility to post in the meshing section if you have a certain problem thats mesh related or want to browse in the threads to get ideas for possible solutions.
BUT what happend to the batman-icon? do you mind loading up the dds files /or the current package? (or at least screenshots of them) it looks like something went wrong. does it look the same on the dds images itself or only in game? if its on the dds maybe you had troubles with the down merging then... see ya (and ressurrecting your own work in progress thread is absolutely ok. noone expects you finishing a project within 2 or 3 weeks)
