Another problem with the new installation on the computer. I've been playing without sound because we haven't gotten the speakers for the new machine yet, but my husband pointed out that I ought to test the sound card (esp. since it turned out the videocard driver wasn't installed properly), so I carted the speakers from the old machine in there, hooked them up, and the system sounds are loud and clear - but the game is still soundless. So I went into the technical space on the HUD to fiddle with the audio options - and they're grayed out.

Poking around in the other sections didn't reveal anything that seemed likely to re-enable them, and I have no idea where in the programming files to tell the game to - do what, exactly? Recognize the sound card? The Audio and Game options claim the audio device is working properly. It's highly mysterious. I'd give you more info if I had any idea what was relevant.
