Default How to install mods on ubuntu (14.04) under wine?
Hello,
after many tries I was able to install the sims 3 base game from my cd on ubuntu 14.04 under wine (version 1.7.27) and now I would like to install some mods (and custom content as well). I found this old thread http://modthesims.info/t/510940 but I don-t understand how to install mods and decided to ask here for more information
can anyone explain to me how to do this please?

Sorry I didn't see your thread earlier, OP. It'll be exactly the same as on any other OS - placing the framework in wherever you've got your Sims 3 user files placed - which according to that thread will be in Users/yourname/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 within the Wine C drive. Bear in mind you'll have to be in Wine to access this folder. However, you will have to patch the game first. I recommend using the downloadable patches from Game Help:TS3 Patchingwiki, as they are less likely to cause problems than trying to patch through the Launcher.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

I-ll post here as well a short and simple how to install sims 3 on ubuntu

i run it under wine version 1.7.27 and have an original copy of the game, not downloaded from origin or steam
you need to create a clean 32bit wineprefix if your pc or laptop is 64bit, then you have to install inside of it the components necessary to run the game you can find a list here http://askubuntu.com/questions/3312...4/331284#331284
be careful when you install the .NET components ,dotnet40 and dotnet20, to install them follow these instructions https://appdb.winehq.org/objectMana...rsion&iId=17886 https://appdb.winehq.org/objectMana...ersion&iId=3754
once you-ve done all this you just need to follow the normal process of installation

put in the cd, open it as a folder, click on sims3setup and begin the installation, once it-s finished, run the game once, then download this cumulative patch to update your game http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/175477.page and install it and the game should now run perfectly
