The thing about bridges over roads is that routing is single-layer in the Sims 3. That means that sims will walk on the uppermost layer!

Don't be surprised if your taxis float up to the bridge and back down again, though I don't think it has any serious impact other than an aesthetic one.

FYI, anyone who wants a decent northern world, Kiwi_tea has an unfinished version of Grimschurch here: http://modthesims.info/showthread.p...822#post4072822

It's not finished, but it looks playable enough

I think one of the most single frustrating things for me in world building is how large some of the footprints of various objects are. The other day I was working on one world project and I had this rock all set up just so with a road down near the bottom of it. I checked the routing data and low and behold, said rock's footprint went halfway out into the road.

For the original question, the two worlds I was last playing in are Castle Canyon and Haberny. Since I let BogSims expire Haberny's no longer available (I am toying with the idea of putting our poor old site back up, though) and it has a few minor issues but it's a fun little world built with fantasy in mind. My biggest complaint about Haberny is that it feels pretty cramped. Castle Canyon was built eons ago by SimBody, inspired by her local home region in Wyoming. It doesn't have a lot of green but it sure has a lot of space and is perfect ranch land. I don't know if it's still available anywhere or not. I was happy as all get-out when I realized how well both of these worlds are going to take to some of the features of Island Paradise. Haberny has a nice lake and Castle Canyon has terrific rivers.

Simolicity This is a empty Medium base game world, Patch: 1.63
Isle of clouds (Emty) Emty Medium world, Patch 1.63

I love all of Quailhogs' worlds. The gothic tone and victorian architecture are what draw me into his creations.
His best world in my opinion:

My other favorites include Praaven and Acadia.

I'm picky when it comes to the custom worlds. For some reason, I keep trying to aim for city worlds for my game. I'll even add skyscrapers to empty worlds. I could never resort to the plain/peaceful styles of worlds. So, here are some of my favorites.

LUXOR: http://wasset-aseskara.tumblr.com/p...nd-test-version
FAIRHAVEN CITY: http://monsooncreations.blogspot.co...y-download.html
BARCEONA: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=553749
DEVIL'S PORT: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2...nload_paket.zip (Love this world!!!)
BEACH CITY: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...assetId=7975880
ALPINE COUNTY: http://thesimscatalog.com/product/alpine-county/
LOS ANIEGOS: http://thesimscatalog.com/product/l...gos-ip-edition/ (There are three different versions of this world due to the expansion packs. LN, SHT, and IP)
ANNE ARBOR: http://www.mysimrealty.com/WORLDS_AnneArbor.html
ELMDALE: http://sims3comfolifedesignstudio.b...r-download.html (It's an empty world. but it's a beautiful one to try out. Oh, and those that don't have WA don't need it for this particular world.)
NEW BRINGTON: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...assetId=5149588
THE CITY: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...assetId=8003395 (Another empty world, but it contains no ccs and it was nicely built.)

There is a version of Castle Canyon available at Parsimonious if anyone is interested. I think this is the original version. She had one she updated a bit on the Exchange but she's removed that one.

BTW, you neglected to explain "to" versus "too" in your signature.

I'm not sure this would be considered a necro... as this whole section is not that super active.
I've been going through this thread as I have just done a fresh install of the sims 3 on my computer. I'm looking for a stable smallish world to play a legacy in.

I've tried some of the worlds. Brightonbay was one, I believe it was called. But it had so many routing problems that it became unplayable after a day or two playing.
So I was thinking if anyone could, from their own experience, tell me of worlds that has survived several generations play without going completely spastic. I mean I'd prefer to get to generation 3 at least.

Why I'm asking is because your help would save me a lot of time and frustration. Installing several worlds to test them out when you're just trying to play the game wears me thin. I'm going to try out harmony now I think. Hopefully it will be better. Thanks again!

Wow, what a change!
Downloaded the world you recommended and played for a while. The difference is massive. After loading in, what I initially thought were troubling, amounts of working npcs. It still ran smooth. I also thought Nraas various mods were gonna load in toons for me, perhaps it did or the creator made them all. ( I don't know with these things) but all the townies were custom made. And VERY interesting. They came in all flavors, and sort of "stereotypical" like "Vanessa Vamp" that looked very sultry and devious.

I run a day care and one of the toddlers were called Daisy, she was all green and had a little flower in her green hair, obviously a plant sim. But it was so cute, her father was Mr.Green. Another Toddler was called Teddy and he was wearing a brown little teddy suite and his mother was called Ursine something...
I don't know where these NPC's are coming from but they have made my night. I can't wait to wake up tomorrow so I can play some more. Thank you so much for your rekommendation!

@Neeri: Before you do, kiwi_tea has an updated version of Riverblossom Hills on the TS3 Exchange: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...assetId=4357925. This includes changes for the Generations EP. There's also a graveyard with some ghosts: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...assetId=3512449
And yes, all the service sims, including the Grim Reaper, homeless and resident townies are custom made. It does have some issues, however, because it's so old and later EPs have made changes to the game that don't play well with many of the quirks that were done in this world: The art gallery, for example, is actually a WA tomb. If you ever open it, it'd be best to remove the tomb markers afterwards, because otherwise residents that you don't play might enter it but are then unable to leave it.

My big question is that I don't have all the expansions and I don't particularly want them, but all the custom worlds I've found seem to require EPs I don't have. What happens if I download a world that requires an EP I don't have?

What EP's do you have? Most of the newer worlds require most, if not all of the EPs to work, but there are still some great ones out there that should work for a base/limited game.

And what kind of world are you looking for?

Here's a good site with a lot of custom worlds that you can view by EP/CC/etc: The Sims Catalog

What I hate about the Exchange is that where they're supposed to list the expansion packs required they never do, it just says "Sims 3." I want a smallish world--but not an island--that doesn't need Showtime, Supernatural, Island Paradise, or Into the Future. I'd prefer an urban feel but if the world is classified urban does that mean no wild animals?

OOOOh, thanks for the link to Sims Catalog--I'm busy filtering right now!

....(second edit)...there are twenty-two worlds left after all that filtering and many of them look like a lot of fun to play!

I'm going to just leave that page open for a while so I can read through all the worlds and pick a couple.

I have only the basegame; The Sims Catalog did actually have two that fit that criteria. They are both beautiful, though. So thanks very much!

ETA: One of them is unpopulated - do I need to create all the sims (Sims 2 BACC style), or will the game create them?

I have Ambitions, Generations, Seasons, University, and Showtime. I'm considering Late Night should it go on Steam sale soon. I have little/no interest in World Adventures, Supernatural, or Pets because my computer is just at minimum reqs and can barely manage the game as I have it. I'm indifferent to Island Paradise and Into the Future.

I don't really know what kind of world I'm looking for. Starlight Shores feels Californian as does Sunset Valley. Twin Brook feels like Louisiana or Northern Florida. Riverview feels Midwestern to me. I think I want something that feels more like New England or Mid-Atlantic... I'd be lying if I didn't say that I kind of want Late Night for Bridgeport, which feels a lot like NYC to me.

Thanks for the link, I think I'll enjoy looking around.

There is a road less version of Castle Keep here: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/dis...lable-pg-20/p20

Here's one: http://latoya-sims.blogspot.com/201...cal-island.html

This island world has a road less version: http://simbasic.blogspot.com/2012/0...oad-island.html

I think that more lots could easily be added to Redwood Forrest here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/374366.page

These islands just have paths, I think: The Manave Isles http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/374366.page

I thought that rflong7 had another world without roads but, perhaps, the picture I saw was a portion of another world. You could always try to contact rflong7 and see.

This simmer makes / is working on road less worlds: http://rhodalle.wix.com/simmerrho

Here on MTS: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=525625

This has just one road: http://modthesims.info/d/532114 (it's post-apocalyptic, though, so I don't know if that will work for you)

Please note that I've not played any of these worlds so cannot give any opinions about them. Perhaps others can ... Hope this helps!

here is one I did play at one time. http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=467082 Build An Arrrrrsland

It does not have lots placed either, so you could place your own lot the size you wanted and in the area you wanted.

Problems might be getting completely level spots for large lots. but the CAW files are also available http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=480410 so you could go in and place lots and make what you want.

I stop using the world because I read that placing lots in a finished world can mess with routing an cause lag. I was experiencing some of that the more lots I place. So if you want a world to play in and not just build in that is something to consider.

Would help to know if you just need a rustic setting, or if you are looking for a tropical setting.

tunafishfish, I sometimes use worlds for which i don't have the required content and I find that if its only objects taken from that expansion or stuff pack, they get swapped out with base game things.

Throwing in a vote for Cink's Candyfornia since I'm playing it now...but warning, it is REALLY COLORFUL, has custom lighting and is not very "real" looking. It might also make you hungry. I've also played Cink's Pumpkin Flood world, which is dark in a Midnight Hollow kinda way, but different color ramps.

I also love all of Risastorm's alien worlds. The colors are amazing, the landscaping creative, they all work with no problems and her bigger ones are large enough for building cities, while her smaller ones make nice, cozy "retreat" worlds.

MTS does not allow us to delete our accounts. I will not be logging into this account anymore, so PMs would go unanswered.

I'll look into those, but I'm more into "real" feeling places, but it would be cool to do "Nothing is Free" with an alien world.
