I am literally double minded about this one.

When I first opened it I was really shocked. The new town immediately reminded me of a sight that you can see all over European Mediterranean coast, from Greece to Spain - a nice old town surrounded and drowned by enormous modern tourist complexes. I hate that.

To see what I mean: this is what used to be one of the the best views in SV, from the spot you probably all know. I usually built a mansion for my filthy rich Sims here. Not any more. On seeing it my eco-friendly Sim fell on his knees and begged me to send him to Lunar Lakes.

On the other hand, it is a perfect tourist destination. When people who made it say there's everything here they mean it: there is, from every EP. Some lots are lifted from various EPs but others are new and, every time, much better than those made by Eaxis. Hotels are just excellent; Eaxis builders could learn a thing or two (or three or four or five ...) from them. Diving spots are new and very rich (though rather too rich for my taste; fish and treasure chests are almost falling over each other). And, of course, your Sim can do everything that's possible in the whole of the game, except explore tombs. You won't miss that at all.

Other observations: no cc but if you want to add, say, a casino you can - still enough empty lots left. Hardly any routing problems. (Though the town is empty at the beginning: this is the only problem with the tourist variation - no people around, except service.) In principle this is a beta but I wish Eaxis would release such well finished worlds as final products.

I downloaded this just to see it. What I found odd was that the apartment buildings have you paying rent instead of buying them. Is that new in some expansion and I have just never seen it before or is this something unique to this world?

These are my faves:
1) St. Claire by Awesims
2) Emporda by Nilxis
3) Eltham's Drift by NeuroticRobotic
4) Evandale County by SimRealtor
5) Anne Arbor by SimRealtor
6) Saaqartoq by Nilxis

I played many worlds, but these are at the top of my list.

Up thread, LaCarrera was asking about fantasy worlds... I have NOT downloaded/played this world, but I just came across it and thought about the request.

New Fantasy World, Darthtopia by Picasso.

Evansdale County. Currently playing this world and it's great. I am rather OCD about having all lots from all expansion packs available (even if I wont use, say, the Showtime lots) in the world, and EC has that. The CLs are also really neat.

Redwood Harbor by My Sims Realty is my all time favorite. It needs serious updating (only requires Ambitions and Generations) but its such a fun world to play as I prefer smaller, compact worlds and towns.

I have three.
Most of the time, these days, I play on Isolation Island, as it's small and loads fast.
Another favourite that I need to put back in is Saskan Harbour, as long as I bulldoze some houses first :-(
I can't have anything too big or busy, as with a recent experience with yet another favourite world Castle Keep. Lovely world, love the houses and the overall theme, but too many occupied houses and CTD. So, I stick with the smaller worlds now. Oddly Lunar Lakes completely occupied runs fine, no problems o_O

There's a new edition of Los Aniegos out, but the BBS thread appears to have gone awol. I may even invest in this hood now.

I haven't played it yet but Rflong's Beach City looks fun and complete. They even have a save with families and all. Trying it out tonight.

I saw that world but was a bit leery when I read deeper. It does appear complete, but it uses lots of premium stuff from the Store, which I only have a fraction of, and am not interested in buying just for a "complete" world. The description was also funky, being a large world, yet on the official page listing only something like 20 residential lots, which must be a typo for such a large world. Please post your experience with it, as I'm reluctant to install it without a bit more objective opinion on it.

Yeah, it does use lots of store stuff. I will not be able to play til tonight so I will give my experience tomorrow. Reading at the forums thread: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/678409.page, there's 26 families in the save, I really think lots more of the lots are residential being 198 lots total in the world.

I found another world on the blog I want to play, Isolation Island. Decisions, decisions.

That's what made no sense with 190 lots, but an apparently incorrect lot breakdown on the download page. Besides, I prefer the unpopulated world, and use my own bin to populate the world using Twallan's SP. Still, I trust your opinion on the world, whenever you do get to peruse it, over just the official forum thread (and I got another case of hives after being forced to visit there again against my will).

On the same subject as official forum new worlds, as I already had hives from my earlier visit, I did discover that Los Aniegos has been updated by Coasterboi up to and including IP. I'm not sure about any routing fixes, or the extent of the update, but I will check it out in the next few days and post an impression. Los Aniegos, despite its flaws, was always one of my favorite custom worlds back in the day. You can find it HERE

Ooo Weee! Beach City is large and got everything. All the nightclubs, all the Ambitions lots (love this junkyard that's a train depot)

Also the venues that were sold separately from the worlds ie The Greenhouse (redesigned), the Toddler Center, The Lucky Simoleon Casino,

All types of IP lots, piers and houseboats, 5 dive lots, secret island, even a couple of WA lots, nectary and a tomb. There is even some pier lots from Lucky Palms. All the Pets lots and plenty of residential lots, quite a few are empty. Oh yeah, the festival is there too. The tractor is there and a community lot with cows and chickens. I really like the set up and you know I am picky.

I only scanned through it because I am excited to start on my small island I picked up from Rflong's blog. I really like it, just what I was looking for, a world where simmers live off the land.

Off for a new world set up.

Thanks for the quick update, Lewis. I'll probably give it a shot, even though some of the Store stuff won't be present. Thanks for the early looksee.

Another vote for Beach City. It has so many lovely touches; the Old Train Station Lewis mentioned. a sports bar with a basketball court in it, a burnt out car that looks like the firemen have been practicing on it in the Fire station, a building site with dinosaur bones. I keep finding new things that make me smile and 'wonder why didn't I think of that?' I can't wait to try out the diving lots, my sim in the test version went to the first one you can go to and I actually saw the Mantra Ray that is the subject of another thread here! First time I'd ever seen it, and I spend a lot of time in Ilsa Paradiso. Just love it so far.

Can someone make a comprehensive list of all the Store Content in Beach City? I want to know how wreaked it would be in my game.

It seems a little like egoism to me putting all that premium content in thw world, but hey, it's his choice. More people would download it if it wasn't so full of it, though. I buy Store stuff with doubloons (yarr) and have all venues and premium content though, so I don't mind.
