This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, Nightlife, Pets
Default Direct X not registered
My game isn't registering Direct X, even though I *just* installed it.

I'm on a brand new copy of Windows 7 64-bit.
Processor:Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.5 GHz
RAM: 4G installed, 6 extra ported in.
Video Card: NX 8600 GTS (256 MB built-in memory)

Circumstances:
Fresh PC load. just installed Sims 2 and S2 Pets pack. Have not added Nightlife at this point. Went to open Perts and try it to get a Direct X error. Installed Direct X 9.0, as requested, and it doesn't register it.

I've included a screenshot below of the error message:

If anyone could help, that would be awesome. I've got time to work with the machine before I have to have everything working, so no rush for at least a week.

If anything else is needed, just ask.

When was the last time you updated your graphics drivers? Try that if you haven't already.

I just installed the graphics driver yesterday, plus I have the generic driver.

Okay - try these drivers: http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/66701
If those fail, try these: http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/70184
(Just in case you had installed drivers from the disk or had downloaded them through Windows Update, in which case you could have the wrong ones).

And it was this version of DirectX you have? http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/down...s.aspx?id=34429

Do you have switchable graphics? If not, perhaps your onboard graphics are being used instead of your card for some reason; check in Device Manager - what graphics adapters are listed there?

Yes, that is the version of Direct X I downloaded.

I have no idea about switchable graphics.
Also, I apologize that the text is unreadable in the photo-part of the reason I have a week to get the computer set up is that you can't actually read a word on the display... It looked fine at the shop, but when I got it home it instantly became unreadable, and the technician can't make it until tomorrow.
Trying again with a different vid driver.

I can read the text in the image fine. I wonder if it's a monitor calibration problem you're having.

It is. I'm aware of the problem and will be fixing it soon.
