This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life
Custom World Installed As .Package File Not Showing Up
Forgive me, because I'm fairly new to the CC world, but I have a Macbook Pro 10.7 Lion that h a t e s the Launcher more than anything, so I have to bypass the launcher and .sims3pack files –– Including lots and worlds. Right now, I'm trying to install the NYC custom world, and I'm following the directions to a tee, yet it's not showing up. I've tried putting it in the worlds folder, the library folder, the general CC folder, and I even tried putting it in all folders at once and it still won't show up. I'm not sure what file screenshots you will need to see to fix this since I'm new, but just tell me what you need to see and I'll attach screenshots. I have a Macbook Pro Late 2011 model with Lion 10.7, and I get the exception raised error a lot, but apparently that's normal for a Mac for some reason, lol.

I appreciate everything in advance so much!!

I know nothing about Macs but is it even possible to install worlds as package files? Even CCMagic won't let me do that.

for windows worlds must be sims3packs. if they got converted to packages they arent going to work! its the same on mac i think
here is a blog with a mac guide for sims 3 (installing / uninstalling and so forth)

you should try to download the world again - but as sims3pack !

I've already installed quite a few other mods and .package files for the past couple years, but my launcher doesn't work at all, so I can't install the sims3pack. is there a way to manually install / place sims3packs without having the launcher do it? Thanks you for the tutorial, by the way!

Try installing to: /ProgramFiles(x86)/OriginGames/TheSims3/GameData/Shared/NonPackaged/Worlds

It may need to go into whatever the newest EP/SP you have instead of TheSims3 (ie: I have Into The Future, so I would place it there.)

I'm assuming that since I have a Mac is the reason it's not showing up, it's not giving me any of those files you typed in. It's saying that i don't have them, and there's not much in the "Show package contents" option, either... I'm sorry if I'm making mistakes, I'm still new to this when it comes to manually installing things. >__<
Do you know if placing both the NYC .package file in the library, customworlds, and mods folder along with the sims3pack in the downloads folder would cause damage or could that possibly work? I have to be careful with the CC though, I get error messages all the time because I don't have enough RAM. I'm getting a new terabyte hard drive soon though.

AFIK the library file is for lots only. You may not have the ProgramFiles(x86)/OriginGames part, but should still have the TheSims3/GameData/Shared... part. Not sure of the exact install path on a Mac. I don't have a CustomWorlds folder, just an InstalledWorlds one; but those have been installed with the launcher. Placing the S3Pack into the downloads folder only makes it accessible to the launcher so it can be installed. AFIK the only place a world.package file can be read from is the file I gave you in the GameData location.

Ah okay, thank you, and I will post on this again when I have a chance to find out if that works on my mac or not. Thanks so much, I'll be back.
