Perfect Plants hack equivalent, lot by lot
I've been using the Perfect Plants hack for ages, due to my fondness of having lots with tons of trees and shrubs, not all that are accessible by a gardener. But, sometimes I want my sims on less foresty lots to do a bit of bush trimming or weed pulling.
Does anyone know of a hack that does what Perfect Plants does, but on a lot by lot basis (so you'd have to set it on each lot that you wanted it on).

I don't know of a mod that does that, but I can tell you what I do. I use trim and water inaccessible plants in conjunction with daily gardener and gardening builds gardening badge. Any sim including the gardener NPC will stomp but then trim or water from where ever they are standing. The only trouble is if I forget to get a gardener or can't afford one, I do end up with flowers dieing. I used that combo as I thought some sims would like gardening and I like to see them trim, water and smell the flowers. Sometimes I use plastic flowers, but I don't have much variety there.

That could work. Have you got a link for those?

Here you go.
Daily Gardener should be in here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s.../topic,7.0.html
Trim Inaccessible Bushes http://cyjon.net/node/172 (fixed the link)
Water Inaccessible and quarter tile flowers http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=288772
Gardening badge http://modthesims.info/d/308955
Oh and if you try daily gardening you might also want the mod to turn off the gardeners ute engine. I'll post that if I can find it.

I was just saying there is a mod to turn off that annoying engine sound on the gardeners truck. I found that hugely annoying so i'll post it if I find it.

Found it! http://vogerbitssims.freeforums.org...lease-t137.html I knew it was a small site made by a MTS member but I had a job remembering what it was called. I don't know if the noise of the gardeners truck ever annoyed you, but having it parked outside all the time idling was hugely annoying to me.

Okay, I know it's been 3 years since this post and I don't know if I can bother you with my query, but I wondered if you could help me, so here goes.. Lately I have let my sims become fond of ordinary gardening, but sadly they don't get anything out of all their toiling other than nature enthusiasm. So was very pleased when I came across the gardening badge mod (I somehow had overlooked for years) that you refer to, only to find out it doesn't work properly in my game. The creator is no longer active so I assumed I wouldn't get any help there. It also conflicts with the trim inaccessible bushes mod you also refer to, a real must-have mod IMO. They both change the same code apparently. Testing without cyjon's mod shows that it still doesn't work though, only the hydroponic thingy builds the badge, not actual gardening. So since you use/have used the gardening badge mod, I was wondering if it works in your game and how you can have the two conflicting mods at the same time. Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

It can be to do with load order - two hacks using the same code isn't necessarily a problem since the one that loads last will use the code, while the other is excluded. That's how the game works. For this particular pair, I don't know, but you could try changing the load order. The game loads in alphabetical order so the usual thing is to rename the one you want to supercede with an x at the beginning of the filename. They need to be in the same level of folder though - best thing is just to have them in the same folder.
Regarding the actual hacks, Jo is still around and very active here so perhaps she will come by and help you out.

I did what you suggested and changed the load order, still no luck.. But thank you anyway for your advice. And I too hope Jo pops in with all the answers, that would surely make my day!

Jo wishes she had good news but... I'm not sure if that mod is working in my game either. I have over 1000 mods so it's easy to forget that something is modded, but I haven't noticed any gardening badge icons pop up. Might need a modder to take a look at it.

I was never able to get Richi3frog's mod to work (I'd honestly forgotten that I even had it), so when I saw your post I ran some tests in my game. Other than conflicting with Pescado's hydrogardenbadge, Richi3frog's mod didn't seem to be doing anything, so I've pulled it out. I had honestly forgotten that it was supposed to give a gardening badge for watering flowers and trimming bushes and I can't recall ever seeing that happen in my game.
So my configuration is mostly the same as the list above except I have Pescado's hydrogardenbadge instead of Richi3frog's mod. Pescado's version makes the hydroponic garden career reward give both Creativity skill and Gardening badge points and it doesn't seem to conflict with anything (at least not in my game). I was going to add a link to it, but I just finished searching all over MATY and absolutely could NOT find it anywhere. I hope that it's okay to post my copy here. If not, please tell me and I will remove it.
I'm sorry, but I don't know of any mods besides Richi3frog's that claim to give Gardening badge points for watering flowers and trimming hedges/shrubs.

Pretty sure I don't have Pescados mod thanks for that. I will remove Richi's if it does nothing. Shame. Perhaps AL or M&G broke it.

Thank you both for your feedback! 'Tis a shame the mod doesn't work, but now I know it's not just me. Will give Pescados mod a go, so thanks for that one.

If you do want just some houses to be gardening maintenance free I eventually used the Magic Shears here. http://www.simslice.com/thesims2/ts2objects-pg5.htm
Just don't leave them on the wall or they'll throw errors and/or sims will be obsessed with them. Just take them out when you want to use them and then sell them back.

The address had something odd at the start, I removed that and it works. http://cyjon.net/node/172
