This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Supernatural, University Life, Into the Future
Can't Get Past the Launcher
I'm trying to use Twallan's NO CD mod so I can play the game without the disc, but I can't bypass the Launcher. I put the necessary file in the Packages folder, and I copied the TS3EP11 file to my desktop but double clicking on that either opens Origin or the Launcher. What exactly am I doing wrong? I tried searching other threads on here and some say I need to uninstall Origin? Here's a screenshot of where I placed the file I got from Twallan's site.

Do you have the right patch level of the no cd mod? Also to bypass the launcher you have to double click TS3W located in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

Perhaps that is the issue? 1.67.2.024001 is what it is currently at right now. Do I need to repatch the game to a lower level? I've always patched the game when prompted to update in the Launcher as I didn't want to run the risk of any gamebreaking issues.

You need to download the latest no cd file. I just checked and there are only 2 files, I assume you downloaded the right one. Have you tried bypassing the launcher? Also, do you have the resource cfg file in your mods folder?

Your shortcut for bypassing the launcher should be "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" if you have a 64 bit operating system. Do not copy the file, just create a shortcut on your desktop.

Do other package files work in your game? If not, then your framework is not correct and needs to be corrected. If they do, are you sure you downloaded the correct one? Should be http://nraas.wikispaces.com/file/vi.../NRaas_NoCD.zip, and yes it simply goes in the Mods/Packages folder with the rest and should work.

Are you games digital or disc? If digital, this may be the reason it's not working for you.

@nightstar: The "resource.cfg file" is in the Mods Folder I created, it's not in the Packages Folder. It's the only file sitting there next to the Overrides Folder (which is empty) and the Packages Folder. And yes I downloaded the file for the Sims 3 as I don't have Medieval. Tried bypassing the Launcher, no luck.

@werismyki: "No Intro file" and "NoBuildSparkles file" works for me and "NO CD file" is in the Packages Folder. All of my games are on disc.

Is it possible the resource.cfg file is in the wrong folder/place?

There is also the possibility that one of your -other- script mods is out of date or conflicting with something.

Quote:
NOTES If you are encountering difficulties running this mod, it is most likely the case that you have a scripting mod installed that is not compatible with your Patch Level. Broken mods tend to bounce the loadup process, and may result in this mod not loading properly. To correct this issue, perform a Clean Folder, and then install only those mods the creator has verified are compatible with your Patch Level.

How do I find out if they're up to date, wherever they are these script mods? It's the first time I've even heard of them TBH. Should I just do a "Clean Folder" and work from there? Also I won't be able to test this out until sometime tomorrow, off to work in a bit. Thanks though everyone for all your help.

Followed "Clean Folder" instructions and cut and copied the current "Sims 3 Folder" to my Desktop. Game booted up without any issues using the disc, I quit out of the game without saving after loading up a fresh world (Appaloosa Plains) and then attempted to use the NO CD start. Double clicked the short cut I created and I just put the two files as shown in the screenshot into my Mods Folder. Origin still opens up. I just now tried uninstalling Origin and starting the game and it's giving me some BS about needing the program to start the game. Ugh, what part of I want to enjoy my game without further scratching the DVD does my computer not understand? *headdesk* I know I'm not overly tech savvy but come on.

EDIT: I think I finally know what the problem is. I searched around for any possible solutions to see if I could figure this out on my own and I found this bit of information. I have "The Sims 3 Starter Pack" that came packaged with "Late Night" and "High End Loft Stuff".

Guess I'm SOL. Is there anything else I can do to preserve the DVD but continue to enjoy my game considering it seems I may not be able to use the NO CD start method?

if your current folder screenshot is how you placed the files, it's not working because the NO CD package is in the Mods folder and it belongs in the Packages folder

Tried moving the files to correct location just now, Origin opens up instead when I double click the shortcut. :/ I mentioned in my last post I have the Starter Pack version of the game if that helps any.

Starter Packs and any base game DVD version that has "Go Social" can no longer Bypass Launcher.
Have you tried 3Booter by Pescado @MATY? I never could get a confirmation from anyone if it works or not...

Both facts which are mentioned in Crin's FAQ that you linked to...

I tried that just now, Origin is still opening up. I've included descriptions with the screencaps I've taken below.

Can you launch the game through Origin without the DVD?

Bypassing means to use TS3W.exe, not the EP's executable.

Still, yes to repeat Nysha's suggestion, and nothing else has worked: download a digital game, since you're going to be tied to having Origin in your system anyways...

Two questions, where/how do I do this and if on the on off chance for whatever reason or another would I still be able to use my disc based versions of the game without issue? I'm just curious because as marvelous as the idea sounds I'd hate to find out I can no longer play my games say whenever I upgrade to a new computer.

Sorry, do what?

Using 3Booter with TS3W? So, 3Booter don't work when it is placed in base game's path and the console window showing it is picking up TS3W.exe instead of the TS3EP11.exe?

Download and install from Origin? http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-t...through-origin/
Do you already have the latest Origin? Game Help:TS3 EADM Issueswiki
You'd have to uninstall the DVD version first, though, before installing the Digital base game.

I don't see why the DVD version won't work on a separate PC, as long as Origin is also installed. And any Digital versions can be authorized for 5 machines to have the same installation at the same time.

I'm sorry, I was asking how to download and install from Origin. Going to try this method tonight.

EDIT: After re-reading this I'm thinking that I'll need to uninstall all my EPs, and then download the digital versions to get them to works sans disc. This may take awhile... I'll let you know if I make any progress, it may take a little time though. Least it looks like I'm on the right track now anyway.

Happy to report that after uninstalling my games and downloading them again through Origin (I registered them already) I am now able to play the games without needing the disc. Thanks again to everyone who helped me.

Though before I go I have just one small question, if I add any EPs or Stuff Packs to my collection do I just need to register the game and download it through Origin like I did with the others? Figure it can't hurt to ask as long as I'm here.

Gethsemane, you can combine games from the origin and from disk. There's no need to install them the same way. To save some traffic I installed some EPs from disks and some from Origin. (if I understood the question.)

I prefer a hard copy in disk format if that helps any. I do know you can buy and download them through Origin but yeah...

BTW if you buy a hard copy in disk, the game appears in Origin too, so you can also download it from Origin in the future (if the disk is lost or something).
