This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time
Default Want to play Sims 2 save from a long time ago - how do I know what to install?
After a computer upgrade and possibly finding many other games to play, a longtime Sims 2 save folder of mine gathered layers upon layers of dust sitting in my backup drive. Not knowing what to play tonight, I came across said folder and though it would be a great idea to get my Sims 2 game(s) installed and to see what my save file was like!

I have just one problem (right now), though. I didn't have the good foresight to document what EPs/SPs I had installed at the time of the save file, and I do have quite a few at my disposal right now.

I'm wondering, is anyone aware of a way to detect what EPs/SPs were installed when the save folder was last played? I'd only like to install what I have to and nothing more, although if installing everything I have right now will work, then I wouldn't really mind doing that.

To do a little sleuthing, I opened several plaintext files (this one is userProps.xml) to see if I could get an idea of what I had installed at the time, and I found this:

(Sorry for the line spam!)

That seems like it has the potential to be helpful, although I don't really know if it's the definitive answer about what EPs I had installed specifically.

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: I see MTS2 still has what EPs/SPs I "have" installed, but I'm not sure I'd trust that - I've played separate installations of The Sims 2 since this save file was last played, and I likely changed what I "had" installed so I could filter mods accordingly.

Do you have any saved lots? I would go to my packaged lot folder and click on one to open Clean Instaler and see what the game engine is. Some of those hoods look like custom hoods. Since Sims 2 goes up to EP 9 being M&G I would have said looks like them all, but then you have an EP 10, so I don't know that "EP number" is actually a number of an EP. I'd just check a lot.

Ohh, I forgot Clean Installer showed preview images too! Here comes a flood of nostalgia

That was a good call. I opened what I think is Pleasantview (Did I actually remember that?), and I see lots of familiar lots popping up, with slightly different things reported as the "version". I'm fairly certain I had installed EPs all the way up to Freetime, although the stuff packs could be a little more tricky... This is helpful though, because a few lots appear with specific stuff packs as their "version".

Thanks for the suggestion! This has me going in a good direction, I think.

EDIT: Ah, yes, this must have been one of my many works
