Default Needing some assistance with recognizing the card
Hi! I'm sure this sorta thread has happened several times, and I feel like I've read them ALL...and yet I'm still very lost when it comes to doing this.

It may seem simple for some (or most..) but to me, this is definitely rocket science.

Is there anyone who could take me through a step-by-step process to get this done? And a very simple step-by-step process?

I've tried (and failed) three or five times, so you can understand the frustration.

I have uninstalled my sims and reinstalled them (Origin) and I'm ready to make a fresh start. I was following this thread http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=544296

^ Because I have the GTX 750 Ti

But...I got lost at the step where we find a certain line in the GraphicsRules file.
and from then on, especially.

And no, I can't do the NVIDIA Control Panel trick (right click desktop and get the graphics to work on that)

You know... I hate to be like those people at MATY, but the fact is you can simply look through a couple of the threads in the 1st page of the help forum and you'll find at least 2 threads addressing this.

I mean seriously is it my imagination or are people seriously just getting so lazy to simply look through for solutions themselves before posting an exact same question that was just answered yesterday?

[/rant]

Btw, I know you didn't read any of the recent similar threads in this forum b/c if you did you would've at least posted your deviceconfig if you really needed someone to help you personally.

Anyways, here: Follow These Steps

Just to be clear with you, I did look through many threads..and not only through MTS. Assuming things about people you don't know is an ill thing to do, and I am NOT lazy...just a little clueless, and I apologize for that.

Ooh, right. The Device config , that sorta slipped my mind. Haha oops.. :$

Anyway, thank you for showing me the way. I'm grateful you didn't leave me without any sort of guidance despite my irritating lack of direction and understanding. Have a good day

Hope that link was more helpful. I think the original tutorial by many makes it harder than it should be. This should be simple for you especially you are using the 750, which is just the same GPU as the 650, except 1 generation newer.

Haha, well I can't exactly know that considering that I don't know you. (:

Yes, the link that you provided was simple to read and understand..however...I think I'm doing something wrong. I've tried it twice, and I continue to get the same result. My DeviceConfig file size keeps turning into 1KB meaning...there's hardly anything in there. All of the important information disappears whenever I launch the game after editing the files.

I'll even post what I see in the file after editing it.

EDIT: I also noticed that the options are being reset each time I launch the game//won't save the options. I put back the unedited files into their right places, by the way. Much appreciated for any help!

Quite so. Boot up? Meaning does it work when I launch it? Yes. And there are no glitches in the graphics, actually, everything looked clear and well-cut besides the graphics of the sims and their clothing textures.

Mm. You mean the unedited version, yes? Here we are.

I did! And it worked wonderfully, device config states "Matched 1, Found 1" and the options don't seem to reset, any more. Which is a great relief. Funny, I thought it would be MUCH more complicated than this, thank you so much for guiding me. I truly appreciate it.

Though I must ask is there a reason as to why the textures aren't very clear? They still seem a little blurry, despite that I switched all settings to high as possible.

In CAS, however; the sims details are smooth and have a higher quality than live mode. Is there anything to be done about this? Or would this have something to do with my card? I tried the game clean without any CC and I still had the blurry problem.

I'll give 2 examples.

Mrs. Landgraab , a premade sim by EA without any custom content. I only have an eyedefault replacement.

Thanks again

As far as I know, that is how the sims look and there's nothing wrong with it. However, I rarely get that close to my sims to notice details.

I'm familiar with the HQ mod, I've used it for pictures, too.

Though I remember I looked at my friend's computer once to see their sims 3 graphics and they seemed to be more clearer than mine. Oh well, haha. Thanks anyways, so long the game recognizes the card, I needn't worry about anything else !

Here's a thread with lots of screenshots by people, some with HQ mod, some without. I think the skins you use matters also.

Ah! There we go, that answers it, haha. Thank you, once more The thread's helped a lot. And yes, the skin does matter, for sure! I'll be sure to find some more pale skins that doesn't make my sims look a little blotchy, haha.

Cheers !
