Default Port Priesnitz - Enki

Port Priesnitz used to be a popular tourist destination and business harbour until an oil tanker sank at the coast, polluting the beaches and rendering the coast uninhabitable. The people had no choice but to withdraw to the hinterlands and live of what their small country´s soil provided.
Ever since the accident Port Priesnitz has fallen into decay, a forlorn place where crime is rife and only the most desperate of souls would choose to dwell.
However, recently a small colony of artists has moved to the town. And strangely enough, with the influx of the strangers and their mix of dedication and easygoing ways, the people of Port Priesnitz start to feel hope again.
But is this what Mayor Justine Traveller desires, or will the First Lady of Crime make a move against the newcomers and their spokesman Amos Martin soon?
Especially with Martin strenghtening Priesnitz´s old ties to Capitol City again...

In Port Priesnitz those in power are close to the people. For example when the mayor steals your morning paper...

How taxes are raised in Port Priesnitz.

...and the man who takes it upon himself to change that:

"I actually payed the first round of taxes to the Capitol out of my own pocket. That way Mayor Traveller has no hold over me or what venue I´ll vote for to get build. At least that´s the theory..."

Places to go in Port Priesnitz
(atm there is nothing to show. I´ll add in pics once I´ve developed the lots a little better.)

Hillside:

Bus Station
Port Priesnitz´ only connection to the outside world has fallen into decay.
The only regularly sheduled vehicle is the schoolbus, though more often than not it returns from it´s tour through the town empty. Especially the newly arrived settlers prefer to homeschool their children.

Souveniers
Mostly snacks, nautical themed stuff and handsewn clothing from the local craftspeople.
Sometimes there´ll be a show or a breakdancing course.

Beach (Warning, do not go there, health danger!)

Ye olde fishfarm
The largest breeding bassin was made into a public swimming pool. What dwells in the others is more or less edible.

Forrested Hinterlands:

Port Priesnitz Community Center
The former courthall today functions as bank, post office and general meeting/debate center.
There´s a playground in the backyard, so the children are well cared for during meetings and need not stay home alone.

Weapons, Electronics & Gaming
No one knows who owns this place. It´s a popular hangout among the younger residents. Slinging cards and dice they dream of the weapons on display while their parents hope they´ll never need them except perhaps for hunting in the woods.

Flea Market (used goods, bartering, also black market)
PP residents rarely ever throw something away, as they know there´s a buyer for literally everything. Sometimes said buyer needs to get persuaded first...
If an item isn´t on display the residents can usually procure it for the right price.

Residents of Port Priesnitz

Conally Household
Profile: Old Residents, Car mechanics, small scale criminals

Bonney and Clyde just got released from prison in Sim City. They have returned to their small shack and burnt out escape car, but where will they go from here?
The chemistry between the erstwhile couple is still strong, but under the surface discord brews. While Bonney is still dreaming of the big coup, Clyde wants out, perhaps join a soccer team or see if he´s missing out on anything in being with one woman only.

Behind the scenes: Originally I wanted Bonney to be the reformee and Clyde the diehard criminal. But with his LTW becoming a Hall of Famer and Sports being his OTH I couldn´t deny him his dreams.

Developement: Well, Clyde eventually found an opening in his dream job, but he was careless and Bonney ended up with twins, Anne and Ron Conally. Clyde was proud to pay the unexpected extra taxes from his first paycheques in a non-criminal career.

Carr Household
Profile: Newcomers, Sheep breeders, craftspersons

Sometimes Lydia finds it hard to relate to her nerdy son. Not only is Eduard not really cut out for country life, he is also the spitting image of his late father. Seeing Edwin´s beloved face alive still hurts Lydia. The widow tries hard to give love and support to her children, but there are days when she escapes into her sewing work completely.
"Mommy is an artist", little Elmy then claims. "They are like that!"

Actually Eduard inherited his brains from Lydia. It shows when she educates her children, though personally she enjoys a down to earth lifeystyle much more than education.

Benson Household
Profile: Old residents, hopeful reformers

Mike Benson is Port Priesnitz´ Sheriff, but without a proper police station his is a hollow title. Often the man can be found training the family dog, Spark, out of eating passers-by or training for his soccer team´s next match. If he´s not looking after his eldery father´s needs, that is.
Pop Theo hopes his son won´t notice anytime soon that he already has recovered from his ailments. He´d severly miss having an unpaid live-in servant if Mike decided to move out again and pursue a life of his own.

Awkward meeting of powerless policeman and ex(?)criminals. The Benson family house is the next lot to play & makeover.

Forrester Household
Profile: Newcomers, Supernaturals

The toymaker Gepetto longer for a child for a long time, but his single-minded dedication to his craft alienated potential partners. Now there is little Pine, but where does she come from? A ditched lover? Adoption? No one dares to ask this question for fear the strange girlchild might answer.

Meet Pine, a genderswapped Pinoccio & Plantsim in the making!

Traveller Household

Justine comes from an obscure branch of the mafia family Traveller. So far she has always met, if not surpassed, her relatives´ expectations. But the arrival of the new settlers could test Justine´s diplomatic abilities to the limit. The mob expects her to maintain Port Priesnitz´ status as a crime paradise. How far is the mayor willing to go when family business clashes with the hopes of the people?

Behind the scenes: Justine is Tina Traveller from the family bin, with an edited personality. Skipping child- and teenagehood left her with fewer aspiration benefit points than regular sims, but I had her keep her household´s starting money.

Martin Household
Profile: Summer camp for troubled teens run by an idelist

Amos Martin recently opened a summer camp where city kids could get in touch with nature for a few weeks each year. Little did he know that parents would exploit it as a dumping ground for their unwanted and/or problematic offspring. At the moment there are five semi-permanently teenage residents in the camp. Among them is Amos´ own son, who was sent here by his mother for "just a short while `till I have a new job".
Why the people of Port Priesnitz, especially the artists, elected him their spokesperson is beyond Amos, but he is determined not to let anybody down.

Amos and the camp teens. left to right Leon, Maude, Rupert, Balthasar, Amos, Marita
With his new responsibilities he cannot teach them as often as he´d like to, so they´ll have to attend public school a few times.

Marita is a videogame addict. Learning girlscout stuff is far from her favourite pasttime, but preferable to a real therapy.

Maude misses the big city and her friends,. However, the polluted air in her hometown made her ill, so for the sake of her health the girl has no choice but to adapt to a new lifestyle.

Rupert´s wealthy family believes this trip will build their son´s character. To the boy it is a chance to get to know ladys real intimate far from his parents´ observation.

Balthasar never missed a father. But though he doesn not need one, the boy has come to enjoy Amos´ company as a friend.

Leon is supposed to learn how to manage his anger after one too many violent run-in with the opposing soccer team´s captain. But the mayor told him his brawling prowess is too formidable to let go to waste. Now there are two potential male role models for the lad who are both into sports: the criminal Clyde and the "Sheriff" Mike.

Alex Link the NPC cook counts as a person for tax purposes.

I played through the first two weeks and Monday of week 3. The story started slow, with much less drama than hoped for, but towards the end of week 2 things heated up.

The sports hobby and/or Become Hall of Famer LTW is very common in Port Priesnitz. So beyond all their differences soccer is what ties the residents together.

As expected the mayor tried to influence the youth and also worked to get Clyde Conally back into the gang - unsuccessful for the longest time until a chance card left the poor guy with a 15.000 fee he just could not raise by legit means.
There were many cases of petty thievery (newspapers and such), but the professional burglars developed a fine sense of which items were of personal value to the owners and went straight for them. But just you wait, revenge will be sweet once we´ve reclaimed the stolen items from your greedy pockets!

On a casual glance Amos Martin and Justine Traveller are good friends (they often bring each other home as co-workers), but if one pays attention to the actual conversation topics, the threats become apparent - not to mention the fire that broke out in Martin´s boyscout camp when Traveller was visiting it.

Witchs arrived and though they secluded themselves in the mountains, they invite the dedicated souls to seek them out. So far only the Carr-siblings have taken this opportunity.
The resident werewolves can be seen in town more often than before. With the influx of new settlers the reclusive tribe needs to re-evaluate their policy towards the "semi-sentient furless apes". Little Ron Conally loves his "talking dog" friends, unaware that his species may very well be the reason for a tribal split.

There have been births: Sparks three puppies and the Conally twins. And deaths: Both Theo Benson and the elderly NPC cook died of old age and Hertha Tellerman, a gang member, well, she disappeared after harassing Sheriff Benson at the phone once too often.

The teenagers from the boyscout camp could not go home for winter, as the roads were blocked. Therefore they were divided among foster families where they grew up well and all of them have decided to settle in town. Maude even wants to run for Sheriff next legislative period.

To no one´s surprise Justine Traveller was re-elected mayor. Rupert´s family did arrange a marriage between the old money scion and the mayor. The young spouse doesn´t seem to be bothered by the fact that his future wife carries Theo Benson´s lovechild - that was before the engagement.

5700 simoleons are ready to be delivered to the Capitol. Mayor Traveller ran a survey concerning what the people want most and it turned out to be phone services.
Will Assemblymen Martin go with that or follow his own plans? There are a couple of institutions that could prove helpful to the town in the long run. Probably not the police station, for that might only ignite a war between the factions. A college would help with education, but on the other hand accomplished college students might just leave Priesnitz to in favour of the larger cities. And finally the Institute of Marine Biology would certainly be a good start for cleaning the polluted coast, increasing health and tourism. Ah, choices...

Port Priesnitz Town Chronicle
Round 2
/ March 1961 - March 1962 (not intended to clash with any official calendar, could just mean "1962 years after the first mention of Priesnitz in history")

Ingametime: Distracted by the TS 4 Easter Egg Quest I only managed one sims week
Storytime: At least one year
Birthes: Fedora Traveller (Traveller Household), Silvana Dai (Forrester Household)
Deaths: none
Taxes: 300 per head for a total of 5700 - paid

Developement:

- On a personal level there was much finding onesself and partnering up tension, especially among the newly grown up former teens.
- Gepetto was turned into a plantsim by the spirits as punishment for having a biological child with a townie. They deemed that ungrateful after they had blessed him with
Pine 14 years ago! (Took me almost the whole week to accomplish the transformation)
- Bonny was caught during a heist in the next town, but was able to buy herself free from prison (chance card).
- On political grounds Justine gained support and was voted for Mayor again (for round 3).
- Mike Benson was found guilty murdering Hertha Tellerman, who haunted his house during a party for all to see.
He was fined 20.000 Simoleons (neatly getting rid of the proceeds from a chanecard he recieved earlier).
- Maude was elected Sheriff, but the title is still as hollow as it used to be when Mike held it.
