Hey there,

I have been playing TS3 for a long time and I have a new laptop computer. I bought it so I could use it for school and to play games like TS3, so I bought it with TS3's compatibility requirements in mind. I had some issues during installation (partly because I own some disk versions of the games and some digital copies through Origin), which required me to perform a manual uninstall, which I thought I performed correctly. The launcher will boot as normal, and displays all of the expansion packs and stuff packs I've installed, as well as all the standard graphics. However, when I attempt to start the game or install any custom content (I downloaded a TS3 file to test), I receive this error message:

"Unable to start game

Device 0 cannot run this title.
No supported video graphics card detected. Please check your system hardware."

Doing research online, this only seems to happen to people who do not have compatible hardware. However, my other research shows that my computer has the specs necessary to run TS3. My computer has a dedicated graphics card (meaning I have two cards), and I delved into the NVIDIA card settings in order to make TS3 run under it, but I still get this issue. I have partly tried adding my card information to the .cfg files located in the game's bin, but found the instructions I used to be unclear, so I may have executed the process incorrectly.

Does my computer have too new hardware to pass TS3's spec tests? Based on the error message, my graphics card seems to be the blame, but the game should be able to run with the card I have. If you know what the problem is, please tell me how to fix things.

Here are my system specs. If you see something that could be causing this issue that I missed, please point it out to me. This is the output from the DxDiag process:

I followed the information presented, but I still can't get my game to start up. Because I installed my game through Origin, I'm stuck at patch 1.69. Do you think I should try reinstalling?

I do own a pre-2012 basegame DVD (as well as a DVD of Into the Future and most of my other packs), but could I still avoid updating to 1.69 if I install expansion packs through Origin (I don't own a disk version of Late Night)? I cannot do a reinstall via disk at the moment because I don't have my disks with me.

Also, it appears that both of my GPUs are up to date. Should I try reinstalling them?

UPDATE: Turns out I just needed to update my computer. My GPUs updated, and now the game is running. Thank you!

It seems like your Windows 10 doesn't recognized your dual switchable gpus laptop, it doesn't matter whether you have TS3 1.67 or 1.69 both are the same when recognizing your gpus but 1st you'll need your OS to recognized them, check your Device Manager and open Display Adapters, if it's stated you have Intel HD 520 as your primary gpu and Nvidia GT940MX as your secondary, that means your Win 10 recognized them, but if it stated other than those I mentioned, your Win 10 doesn't recognized them means you don't have proper drivers installed and/or you don't have .NetFX for Win 10 installed to run your gpus drivers, if this is the case then overall your Windows OS will run very slow just to run or starting Windows, if you can post a pic of your Display Adapters from your Device Manager it would be easier to tell you where the source of the problem is..

About 1.67 vs 1.69, since you already have the BG dvd installer, if you install one of your EPs and/or SPs from Origin with digital download then your TS3 1.67 will convert to 1.69, if you don't want 1.69, you have to have all the EPs and/or SPs dvd installer as well (plus SuperPatch 1.67), so you can avoid 1.69 altogether..
