Thanks @attuned for the mention, the siggy link you sport in support of us, and your help testing! I'm working now on a populated save for it, using the custom skins made for the natives. Info at Saturenorn blog in siggy. (Desktop version shows much more than mobile version btw) Loads of pix, history of the project, who all was involved, requirements etc. is all there.

MTS does not allow us to delete our accounts. I will not be logging into this account anymore, so PMs would go unanswered.

I've discovered and added into my game Icolopolis.
It's a beautiful hood with much in common with Boroughsburg, regarding the big city feel, distant terrain, visible trains and a hefty amount of CC (it will take ages to go through all of that). Personally I think it's looks better with the skyscrapers removed, resulting in a more low-rise look, leaving the town looking more like an extended shopping district with residential blocks scattered around.

Oh wow, that's a pretty cool world yeah. Never knew about this one; I think I've taken one look at those CC skyscrapers and thought, no thanks.

How does it run on your computer? That's been my one reason for hesitation.

The frame rate and smoothness is pretty much normal for me, but I've been in Edit Town mode 90% of the time, as I always am with a new hood. Had a couple of error 12's which may or may not have been my fault with my repeated bullodoze/plop/bulldoze/plop actions.. If it's too heavy for you (it's not that heavy IMO) you can just uninstall it, right?

The greatest World I have ever played is the "Underctiy Ghetto". I go back there almost every year (I have a habit of starting my "Sims III" gaming every year when it gets cold, and ending in the spring). I am even making an updated, greatly expanded version of it in the CAW console as we speak!

A quick question- what would people consider as a 'EA-match' worlds?

For me, that means a detailed terrain (usually generated), an integrated distant terrain, a singular theme, lots that aren't too detailed, and a large and sprawling layout that isn't too dense.

Worlds that cover most of those points for me:
- Mayfield Springs
- Beach City
- Awesims's worlds
- CAWBlog's worlds
- Pyronium3's worlds
- doublemedion694's worlds

I am definitely looking for more!

Also, a blast from the past, but a nice reminder for anyone who might want to itch that Island Living vibe outside of Sunlit Tides:

Yeah, I've played on Suva Diva. It's lovely, but I had issues getting it to work as a vacation world and it kept crashing on me. I should try it again.

I haven't tried Icolopolis but it looks great, it's right inbetween Boroughsburg and my Bridgeport that's starting to come together now. Where jje1000 mostly uses distant terrains and lots of custom CC, and where Icolopolis mostly seems to make do with low poly decorative buildings, I personally layer CFE shells with increasingly time-consuming VFX. The difference is, you guys are actually making the magic happen in-game whereas I'm essentially faking it. The result's broadly comparable, though.

It looks like DC and Baltimore! I don't necessarily want or need that in my game, but they nailed it. I play the Sims to escape the city and live in a fantasy world where I can live in a house with a big yard and a beautiful garden. If I lived in the country, I might like to escape to the city, lol.

I've been playing in Meadow Glen by MySimRealty and I've been really enjoying it. It's really thoughtfully put together and integrates all the expansions really well. Many of the public lots have All in One bathrooms, horse troughs are integrated in places where horses would be. There's a nectary in the home world, docks for houseboats, two dive spots, and some beautiful custom lots. I like that the fishing spots are off the road and require a bit of a hike to get to. There's also a resort and a couple WA base camps. There's a nice balance of pre-built houses and empty lots to add your own flair to the town. Or they have a lot of supplemental lots on the site you can add to the world.

My favorite custom world is Marburry - http://www.beautysims.de/forum/file.../1006-marburry/

The process of the creators work - I'm giving the last page first because she reworked it quite extensively. So if you go in reverse, you can see how the world is "now" (page 6) as compared to how it "was" (page 1).

You can see a few of my modifications here - https://imgur.com/a/F92RKLx
I take no credit for this world, lots used or custom content.

(just a note - there is quite a bit of cc included with the world)

Is that the one that comes with its own range of rabbithole buildings and plants? If so, there is one thing to take care of: the creator messed up the art gallery on the cliff; it has a cfe floor placed on the foundation which renders the staircase leading up to the entrance unusable. This could cause occasional freezes when inactive Sims try to visit the place and fall into route failure loops.

Yes it is that one, and I rebuilt the art gallery in my save, though forgot to mention it. It didn't cause any freezing or anything in my game up to the point I realised there was an issue, but I only discovered it when I sent my own sim there and she wouldn't go up the stairs.

Wow, that's a gorgeous world. But with all the cc, I will just admire from afar. I just moved one of my main legacy Sims to Dronningslund and am finding it a little lacking in things to do there so I'm looking for some quaint European-style cities/towns as a replacement.

Still holding out for a properly non-quaint European world. Quaint is fun if you want to play the tourist but I prefer the real world. When I (supposedly) went to Bielefeld, Germany this month I expected to see a lot of pretty old buildings, and I did, but the biggest architectural surprise was their evil-looking city hall with its sharp edges and retrofuturistic glass accents. Google Images will only show you the same old medieval townhouses, as always, but I saw the very post-war and very central Jahnplatz and I much prefer it to the old town off to the side. What I wouldn't give for a properly European city with 6-lane roads, grimy office buildings, ugly adverts and a web of electric tramway wires. In German cities there's always that one particular office building, it's the tallest building in town but it's not actually that tall, it's from the 60s or the 70s and it's squareish, and it's just kinda there without being offensively ugly or in any way appealing.

Antwerp has de Meir which is a bit of both. It's like the European IRL equivalent of Bridgeport, but without the lag or the rampant off-screen drug abuse.

You know you can get rid of custom content in worlds and on lots by using http://www.modthesims.info/d/390235...ck-cleaner.html
Of course it won't look quite the same as what the original creator wanted but that is what I do with all lots and worlds that I download. I want to use my own patterns, junk, plants and such. It only takes a minute. It's simple to use, open it up, uncheck the junk you don't want then "save as" - done. You now have a copy of the sims3pack with only EA "junk".

Yeah, I already use the pack cleaner but for a world like Marburry which has a lot of cc, it doesn't seem worth it to me to have to spend days going around and replacing everything. I'll get bored with design/building pretty quickly and just want to play the game.

I'd like to see that as well. As a Dutchy I'd love to see an Amsterdam themed world that has both the beautiful old houses and monuments, as well as the urban decay, little shabby "coffeeshops" and red-light district. I'd also love to see a Berlin themed world or London (there's one I know of, but I'm not sure my computer could handle it).

If you'd also go for a more Mediterranean city, you're in luck. There's a world based on Barcelona, and it has both the old and new parts of the city. It does still look a bit too clean, but otherwise great. (I haven't played it myself, so I'm not sure how well it functions in game) http://modthesims.info/d/553749/barcelona.html

Nah. No thanks. Amsterdam is another one of those overrated fairy tale cities with the cutesy side streets and corner cafés and old merchant houses or whatever. In Amsterdam I personally like the bits between Centraal and Waterlooplein that got knocked down when they built the metro. There's a trail of dense, slightly gritty apartment buildings from the 70s and 80s there that represents Dutch cities better than any collection of canals and fancy gables ever could.

True, Amsterdam has a lot of cutesy touristy streets, but also quite a lot that are busy, stink and have lots of ugly shopfronts. But most of the buildings in the downtown area are indeed quite old. If you want mostly post-war buildings, with some urban decay etc. Rotterdam would probably do better as inspiration for such a sims 3 world, or maybe Eindhoven (not sure about that one, haven't been there often).

Also, since you mentioned the evil-looking city hall of Bieleveld, I'd say the building of Radio Kootwijk would also look great in a (slightly less modern) dystopia. It's in the art-deco style, but has an almost brutalist, imposing feel to it.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Roseward. Zombie apocalypse type world. It's a very interesting, grungy sort of place. https://nigalkins.tumblr.com/post/5...alypse-world-by

I dunno if it's been mentioned in this thread because I didn't read the whole thing, but my favorite custom world is FagerSims's Enekjaer Island. I use the version updated for IP here because I like the whole scuba diving thing. The things I like:

-Smallish size. Medium-size map, which is what I prefer.
-The lots are mostly clustered together, which I prefer because I don't like it when it takes forever for Sims to go to and fro. But there are also some nice outlying lots for the loner-types, the rich ones, and the horsey/agricultural folks.
-Creative use of rabbithole rugs on nicely-built/decorated community lots. There's only one "basement rabbithole," the bistro. I don't generally like those, but this one I can tolerate. Especially because I don't often use the bistro anyway.
-The houses are cute. Most of them have more than one bedroom, but they're not too big for a single or a childless pair. But if a childless pair living in even the tiny 1-bed lot has an oops I don't feel like I'll HAVE to move them to a new lot right away because it's not too small/cramped to accommodate a crib, so at least I've got until oops-kid becomes a child to get them moved.
-The horse facilities are nice, which is good because I like to have at least one horse-owner in my populations.
-The dive spots, as mentioned. There are three of them. And also the fact that everything's navigable by houseboat.
-A good number of spawners. Not so many that it makes it too easy to find too much stuff that earns too much money, but enough that the gatherer-types are happy.
-Few routing issues. The only one I've had is that there are a few houses that are fake rowhouses, and sometimes a Sim will get stuck in the part that's fake. I fixed this just by locking some doors.
-The color palette of the whole thing. It's very green but also kind of dreary (befitting a northern island) but yet the "downtown" always feels cheerful. But at the same time, my brooding loner-dude who writes depressing novels for a living feels at home and happy in his dreary little house away from everyone. It definitely feels like the North Sea/Baltic, as it's intended to, but I think if you wanted to, you could change the trees and other landscaping to something better suited to warmer climates, change the lighting, and set it to summer all the time, and boom, you'd have a tropical paradise.

So yeah. I stabbed at lots of custom worlds of various sizes to figure out my preferences, and that's the one I keep going back to.

I'm mostly found on (and mostly upload to) Tumblr these days because, alas, there are only 24 hours in a day.
