Default No Autonomous Alien Abduction
Help! I know I've seen something like this somewhere, but my search-fu has failed . I'm looking for a mod that stops general autonomous alien abductions from stargazing while allowing abductions from the Summon Aliens perk. I've read that Search for UFOs (from the science hobby) also has some affect, though that one isn't as necessary to keep. Basically, I'm looking for some way to keep my sims from being abducted unless and until they decide they want to meet aliens and/or have an alien-hybrid baby. Thanks!

Use cheap telescope. 1oo% without abduction.

That doesn't help if my sims want an expensive telescope, though =/

Buy the cheap one to use and buy the expensive one and put it in the attick out of reach of your sims.

Most of my houses and apartments don't have attics or the space for an extra telescope. And I'd like my sims to be able to use the expensive telescope, if they have one. Not sure exactly why I deserved an eye-roll... If what I want can't be done, that's fine. I only asked because I thought I had seen a mod like this mentioned before.

There is no mod that does this that I know of and either you will need to make one or find a modder to make it for you.

Over time the expensive telescope will call for aliens and I know of no mod to get around this.

Save just before you have them use it and if they go then exit with out saving and use the inexpensive telescope instead.

ADD: Most players want the abducting done faster so there are a lot of mods out there for this but none for not getting abducted.

@marka93 , at one point I was the same and even had a higher abduction odds mod from Simbology. But the more I thought about how the scenario was presented, the less comfortable I became with it. I did open the higher odds mod and stare at in SimPE for a while to see if I could reverse the intent (lower odds instead of raise), but sadly BHAVs are beyond me at the moment. I did finally figure out the right combo of words to find the mod I had heard of ( Squinge's No Alien Abductions). Unfortunately, it nukes ALL abductions, not just ones from stargazing, Not even the debug option could whisk my test sim off to the sky =( . Maybe if I compare one mod to the other long enough I can figure out how to frankenstein something between them.

I could have sworn I'd had someone abducted off the cheap telescope. Maybe the likelihood is just lower.

Knowledge sims after getting the points can use the option to "summon aliens" on the cheap telescope and I use it all the time for my teens.

Freetime changed the way alien abductions work. It should no longer matter whether you have a cheap telescope or an expensive one.

I wish I could help the OP, but the mods and debug cheats that I've heard of to force or prevent alien abductions were for the old version of the game and won't work if you have Freetime or later installed.
