Default tutorial on roofs
Wikki links about this go nowhere. Mostly just making more realistic, compound roofs; windows that won't SET above a roof, etc

Not exactly sure what you are after but Numenor did a Recolouring Roofs with Object Workshop tutorial.

Whenever you see a "Say Thanks" button show the creator you appreciate their work...click on it.

the LINKS on wikki don't go anywhere! Mikeinside isn't what I was looking for (how to build complex roofs, and ability to place windows on a wall that a roof connects to. Waiting for simpearls to "approve"me

I guess mostly what I'm trying to do is get around the games "you can't put a roof over another roof". Wish I had pictures of real houses I'm trying to copy... Or put windows on a wall that a roof is against (even if the roof is "lowered" so there is plenty of room; yes, with I CAN place the windows, and light even shines in, but only the frame of the window shows.

If the window is low enough you can place it on the roof, you need to heighten the roof slope first, place the window and then lower the roof slope to what you want.

Most of the links to roof tutorials go nowhere. Trust me, I searched long and hard. There are some on YouTube that have helped me, though, so maybe start from there. There are a couple on MTS too, but I don't have the links now.

Experimenting and practicing are probably the most useful way to learn - I find that I, after taking part in a number of building competitions, suddenly am able to make a quite decent and interesting roof.

So look at roofs you find interesting and try to copy them.

A couple of tips here: http://modthesims.info/t/324898

There are tips like these in TSR, but no pictures ... kind of frustrating, but perhaps of some help: https://www.thesimsresource.com/tut...st/2580/Roofing. (Note: I believe that Sims 2 and 3 tutorials are intermixed, so it can be more frustrating there.)

not sure, but I think only the mansard roof type could have another roof on/above it.
windows on roof walls; can be possible on wall segments that are as high as (or higher than) normal walls.

I've built a roof over a roof using the shed roof, but it can be a little tricky.
