Default Can Someone Outline the Basics of Meshing?
I am new to meshing and I would like someone to outline the basics to me.
I would especially like to know all the programs I need. Could someone make a list of all the neccessary programs for meshing. SimPE plugins, photo editing, mesh plugins...whatever, as I said I am new and know nothing..
I would apreciate any help...

Thanks, Kienan.

The necessary programs are listed on the first page of the meshtool tutorial: http://meshtool.modthesims2.com/1.htm. The only other thing that you will need, not contained in this list, but required by SimPE is .Net Frameworks 1,1 Redistributable installed for SimPE to work.

A 3D Programme
A Paint Programme

You will not need a paint program at all if you apply and create textures in your 3d program and do not provide recolors for you mesh.

You can check to see if you already have the .NET Framework installed for, as it si significat size, by clicking Start on your Windows desktop, selecting Control Panel, and then double-clicking the Add or Remove Programs icon. When that window appears, scroll through the list of applications. If you see Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 listed, the latest version is already installed and you do not need to install it again. If it is not listed and you will need to install it for SimPE to work.
If you do not have it you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en.

You will also need at least an intermediate knowledge of SimPE and your paint program of choice (if you use one). Intermediate knowledge means that you have gone beyond using OW for simple recolors and understand come of the other editing functions of SimPe. There are many great tutorials for and threads on using SimPe.

You will also need an internediate knowledge of a 3d modeling program so that you can edit, create, manipulate and translate/convert formats as well as create and apply textures, bumps, etc. MOst 3d Modeling software comes with either learning editions and/or good learning tutorials. Give the numerous differences from program to program there is not anyway to write a generic 'mesh creation' or 'how to use a 3d program' tutorial

Most of these are specific programs you must have. As for 3d program there are many out there some free trial or demo or learning versions that have some or many options disabled and full versions that run anywhere from 50 EURO for a shareware to several 1000 for an unlimited version. There are several good threads here discussing the pros and cons of availabel programs and it would waste space to go through all that in another thread - easier that you just read those threads and go look at the links from there.

This is much the same for paint programs, although you can get full versions in the price range of free - approximately 700 dollars. Again, there are several threads that discuss some of the programs available. You will not need a paint program at all if you apply and create textures in your 3d program and do not provide recolors for you mesh.

I found it by something called 'reading' and it was hardly hidden.

The post announcing where to get the tool:

Hi All,

MTS2, in association with mad scientist productions and nearlylife enterprises, are proud to present the public beta of the MTS2 Sims 2 Mesh Tool.

With this program, you will be able to create brand new objects, as well as modify existing ones. Please note that while the program has gone through extensive beta testing, it is still a beta, and thus should be treated accordingly.

A big thanks goes out to everybody in the closed beta for thier help and dedication, and of course to Miche.

This is a standalone program, and works independately of your 3d package. There are various publically available tools for conversion, but note that we cannot help you with "How do I make a model?", "What 3d program should I get?" and "How do I use this??". See the page for a tutorial.

The official MTS2 web page is: http://meshtool.modthesims2.com/
The official MTS2 forum is: http://modthesims2.com/forumdisplay.php?f=114

Have fun, and enjoy

Regards
Delphy
