Default How to use an existing in-game animation, if it's not in Animator/PosePlayer?
I need my sim to stand like a bouncer (hands behind his back) for a video.
I've opened FullBuild_p06 in S3PE and found a handful of CLIP resources seemingly related to that animation, like 'a_velvetRope_bouncer_watchDoor_start_velvetRope'.
But these animations are neither in NRaas Animator list nor in moviemakercheatsenabled menu; entering name of any of these animations in cmomoney's player also does nothing.
How can I make my sim play that particular animation? I feel like there should be some obvious solution, but I can't put my finger on it...

Try again, but choose between animations whose name ends with "_x",
something like "a_velvetRope_bouncer_watchDoor_start_x".

Arsil, thanks, just tried that -- sadly, no improvement

None work, maybe because of IK chains, I don't remember if they are supported.

Try using a real bouncer and "moveobjects on" to move the sim it so ropes, door
or anything that can ruin the stage aren't visible (expect glitches or sim resetted
though). But maybe this way you can't get rid of the boucer's outfit.
EDIT: or maybe you can with MC once he/she is already geared for the job.

Or try searching for a look-alike pose. GL ^^

The ropes seem to do the trick, thank you very much!
The bouncer's outfit was applied automatically, but MasterController was able to get rid of it.
I'm quite happy with the end result: http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums...pr.gif~original (warning: traffic)

Glad it worked and good job: looks fine. By the way, there is a way to use "those"
animations with a player, I didn't mention it because is a bit advanced and also
because I though you could reach the same goal with workarounds.

Quick summary
- you extract the animation (CLIP resource) into a new package
- if needed (in order to not make a default replacement), change its IID, animation
name and source name (hex editor or S3 Anim Converter by Wesley Howe)
- "Grid" it to remove the IK chains
- use animation player with the new animation name or the old one if you are
temporarily overriding it (but that can cause glitches, for example if you have
legit bouncers that try to use those animations)
- without IK chains, the animation may look weird and/or different than the original one
is going to be a cat when she grows up.

Just for future reference--the bouncer's animation is actually the animation for the "disciplined trait." It's in Nraas Animator, just not where you thought it was! :D

Arsil, that's very useful, thank you! I probably will try the method at some point for more obscure animations.
spladoum, I had similar thought in mind, but it was the Brave trait that got stuck in my head, and I completely forgot to check Disciplined. Thank you, I'll remember that now!

By the way, here's the finished video http://youtu.be/gXv0uA1EC9s

I liked that! Especially the ending: at 4:08 seems like audio and video are in sync.
At 0:24 it seems like the guard is [un]locking the door, what animation did you use?

Anyway, now that you and I are basically BFF, can I ask you something?
Are you interested in collaborating for a little project? I want to make an
"all news" tv channel, using TS3 footage, but the idea of doing the video
myself is not very alluring. I'm going to describe my idea before knowing
your answer, but I'm not making any assumptions and I can take a no
for an answer without any problem. If you are interested know that I'm
in no hurry and you'll have all the artistic liberty you want.

I'd like to have a brief (30 seconds) video of an anchorman in a desk,
possibly with a world map chart in the wall behind (or a tv screen, I
don't know). The anchorman should be a middle aged, short and white
haired man (the idea is of inspiring trust, a professional and reliable
journalist) and possibly should be speaking (practice speech animation
of the mirror should be good). I'm not sure about the audio, maybe the
one of the speaking but with a lower volume. It doesn't matter if he is
really seating, as long as the framing gives that impression (or he can
also be standing, if that's better). And no plumbob, unlike my screenshot.
Arms on the desk/surface would be nice too, possibly with the "homework"
object there (or a look-alike)

Something like this (but not as crappy):

I'd also like that, all the time, in the bottom of the video there are "scrolling news"
(in simlish, of course). I guess you need video editing for that, but you seem
capable of that. Of course if this is the only video there must be some sort of
matching between the start and the end (or maybe a transition is an easier solution).

Let me know ^^

EDIT: If I recall correctly, tv channels in TS3 use TS2 footage. I don't have that game,
but if you prefer (assuming you'll accept...) using TS2, I'd have no problem with that.

EDIT2: I'd also like, as alternative, having Don_Babilon's sim/avatar as anchorman,
but I guess he would want a ton of simoleons to give us the rights to use his image :D

Arsil, animation at 0:24 was one of the MC'ed idles, specifically a_idle_neutral_scratchArm_x. It turned out really nicely, I think.
4:08 was almost pure luck Sims sometimes do that synchro thing, the most impressive example so far in my personal experience was at 2:08 here: http://youtu.be/1W89ovO5Twk?t=2m8s
As for collaboration, that's all right; I'll write you a PM now to clear some details.
