Default "A Serious Error" message still haunts my computer
Hi!

Okay... I had this problem about few years ago. At that time, there were so many issues I had with the game that I got too frustrated and stopped playing altogether.

Well, about three or four months ago, I had an urge to play again. So I uninstalled the base game, all my expansions, saves, custom content, store content, and any registry keys and such using Revo Uninstaller. I believe I did CCleaner after that too.

Then, I installed the base game with no mods or custom content of any sorts. Played it. I think it saved and loaded just fine. (I was cured!) So I thought...

I then installed my expansions one by one (up to Pets) and my store content, still, no mods or 3rd party content of any sort. The problem showed up again. So I stopped playing.

So yesterday, I decided to give it one more go. I bought Showtime, installed it, let the game update itself, the store update itself, and origin update itself. I searched the sims community site, then this forum looking for answers. Still had the error message.

I went through each preliminary step yesterday, from the ones for game crashes, to the one for this particular problem. I followed all the steps in order. The last attempt was to download Unlocker, and that didnt work. It kept saying that no action was needed. Then after I tried it, the serious error would still occur.

I backed up my saves at least twice for each attempt, and none would work.

Is there any hope for me?

In my experience, one or more of the game installations is corrupted. Which games do you have and are they disc or digital download? What patch version are you currently on?
