This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Items not showing properly

As you can see, it's all a bit.. buggered.

I quite recently got a new laptop and moved everything over.
At that point, I hadn't noticed this problem. (I was having a problem that an X would appear in thought bubbles, however).

I deleted a load of custom content (the ones that come up in the list as you load the game asking whether to enable or disable CC).

And I'm pretty sure I have all the right patches.

Annoying I'm not sure at which point this started, whether it was before or after deleting CC.

But it's not CC that's affected.
As far as I can tell, it's all stuff that comes with the games.

Help please?

What are your tech specs -- graphics card, processor, etc.?

And have you followed the instructions in Game Help:Corrupted Objects.packagewiki?

System Manufacturer: Alienware
System Model: M17x
BIOS: Ver A10 1.00
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 620 @ 2.67GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 4020MB RAM

I'm not sure how to find out my graphics card but it apparently it should be an AMD Radeon 5470 (boyfriend isn't sure exactly but it should be 5000 series, he says)

I don't really know what details are useful

I tried uninstalling the games and re-installing them but it it's still broken.

It seems to be all objects from Free Time, so I replaced the objects.package file for that but that hasn't solved it either

If it's all FT stuff, that does sound like a problem with your FT install. Did you get any errors when installing FT? Does this happen both with and without the FT patch? Try cleaning your FT disk as per this page: Game Help:Installwiki
