This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default "The application has crashed" on large lots only?
Hello everybody, I've been Simming for several years now and this is the first time where I haven't been able to find an answer related directly to my type of problem already written on the forums. I've recently bought a new PC, and Sims 2 runs very smooth except for when I enter really large community or residential lots. Usually I can get a few minutes or so of game play until it crashes with the dreaded "Application has crashed, the application will now terminate" box. On my old PC this never happened on larger lots, even though I had a significantly older graphics card and only one tenth of the RAM that I have now. I do keep my custom content folder pretty large since I like to film with the game, but the downloads I have were taken directly from my old PC when I made the switch. I'd like to be able to use these larger lots with no issue considering I need them for a project that I'm working on. If anyone has dealt with this before and knows how to make it stop, I would be forever grateful! :lovestruc

Do you have your game patch like your old computer should have been?

You could try and turn down shaders to med. instead of high.

You could try an older driver for you video card.
