Not sure about added messages when you ask someone to sleep overnight/stay overnight, but when I do-- the invited sim often gets mad and says next morning - " You invited me to sleep over but I didn't get any sleep ! I'm leaving ! "
HAHAHAHA !!!!! No idea why this occurs as I make sure there's a guest bedroom available.

No stupid messages popping up for every little thing, this is the TS3 school. In TS2 you just have to pay attention to Sims' reactions that indicate their acceptance and/or rejections.

The message "You invited me to sleep over but I didn't get any sleep.I'm leaving." is caused by a BHAV in PersonsGlobal (as Rufio at MATY had explained to me years ago) which is called constantly to check guest Sims' motives and whether they should stay or leave. Sims will take a shower and use the coffee machine autonomously, they will even seek a bed (with AL installed) before their energy levels go way down. However, if at the time the game checks their motives the Sims are pre-occupied in an activity then they get distracted and don't do anything, their motives continue to drop and then you get the above mentioned message.

I don't actually play the game in a while, makes sense I've mistaken it with the other games. But still, the invited sim leaves with no explanation whatsoever, they just leave, wether is 2am or the morning after, not even a goodbye is said!

There's a mod to suppress that message if it annoys you.

There's a mod to suppress almost anything that annoys you, in fact.

Do you have a guest room? Is there a bed for your guests to sleep? Have you spent quality time with them socialising etc.? When guests leave they will either complain for reasons I explained earlier, or they will say "they have some other things to take care of", or something between these lines. Receiving no pop up message at all is weird.

Edit: Just to be clear: Most often than not, guest Sims won't make use of your guest room; however, if you stay up late with them chatting they will leave a while after you have gone to bed, saying they have other things to do.

The guest is in a romantic relationship with my sim, there's a double bed for them to sleep, the guest does not stay even after woohoo-ing. No messages pop up when they leave, I guess it's 50/50 time again. ;-;

I always use woohoo to make my guests sleep, since they stay in bed sleeping after if they are tired. Doesn't work if your Sims aren't in a relationship, but I really only use the stay the night thing for Sims who are dating but not living together so it works well for me

Does anyone use bffsarefor12s by pescado? It limits when Sims can become BFFs with others, and I'm debating using it. But my popularity Sims almost immediately roll a want to be BFFs, after reaching BF status. I wonder if the mod would make them stuck with a panel full of BFF-wants they can't reach. I also don't entirely understand what "12s" stand for, is it children-stage or something else? Any input from people who used the mod would be appreciated

Sorry about the double post.

I use to use it but it does not get rid of the wants and adults can never get it with friends only with there kids.

I use BFF are for twelves. I like it. I don't get adults getting BFF wants, unless it's for a kid, where it's appropriate. I don't know if it's that, or if it's Pescado's wants and fears sanity mod which I also use.
12s--well, Pescado had a thing about ages, which I don't remember what it was, exactly, anyway, the mod allows teens and under to form BFF. (I don't know if babies can--I've never had a baby get beyond BF. But I've seen toddlers get the BFF.)
Because of the limits in the mod, and the way I play, practically BFF is reserved for household members and very close childhood friends. Which, to me, since it keeps the sims from being enemies very long, really makes sense. Most people will forgive immediate family members things they wouldn't forgive anyone else.

when making most expansion type lots, I take this is the process::
1. build & buy on either community or residential lot and add a certain door at various places on lot.
2. use zoning cheat to change lot to the expansion type.
3. save lot.
Is that right?

which expansion types start as residential and which as community?
and what is the name of each type's door?

I believe that Pescado uses "12s" in the internet slang meaning of the term, which is an immature person who acts as though they are 12, regardless of their actual age on the calendar. (It's a derisive term; you don't want to be called a 12.) I'm pretty sure I have bffsarefor12s, and some of my sims still get the "Be BFFs With ____" Want. But it's not all of them, all the time, and it goes away eventually. IIRC, it's my Pop sims that keep wanting to be BFFs with non-relatives, which makes sense when you think about it.

EDIT: To the question above, I'm not sure why you want to change the lot zoning routinely. As far as I know, all doors work on both residential and community lots. Can you give a little more detail about what you're trying to do?

I'm not sure I understand your question, expansion lots? Do you mean you want to make a hotel, dorm or apartment? You build then change zoning. Once a lot is changed you can't access certain items. I start any lot out as residential. unless I am 100% sure it's just going to be an unowned community lot. You can change a residential lot easily to community but if you start as community you wont be able to change it to residential without a buyable mail box.

Regardless of your EPs, you'll have "community" and "residential" options and almost all uses will be covered under one or the other.

If you're building an apartment or dorm, those are residential lots. Build it as a residential lot and save it, making a backup copy. The dorm doors will be claimable even in an ordinary residential lot, but the dorm stove won't function till you change the lot zoning. Apartment lots are very finicky and there's a lot of things to bear in mind when building them, not just where the apartment doors go.

I've never built a hotel, and it functions as both a community and a residential lot depending on whether you have any playables staying there; so I suppose you might need to start it as a community lot; but it'll need a check-in desk as well as the hotel doors in any case.

Always make a backup of the lot before changing the zoning, so you'll be able to edit the lot. Changing the zoning back and forth is a huge hassle and doesn't even always work.

I don't find it a hassle, I just put in Com or res, save and reload. Never had a worry with it. But like I said I generally start out as a residential lot.

I use it, too, I like it, and I agree with what others have said so far. Esmeiolanthe, in particular, gave you the most complete info on the hack - and to what Pescado means by "12s". There is one more reason I personally find the whole "BFF" stupid: every time your Sim makes a BFF he/she gets a memory of it, and I don't like silly things clogging my Sims' memories. It's for this I also reserve fighting only for those Sims who truly deserve to be beaten down.

When it comes to Sims in a romantic relationship I have noticed that some sleep with my Sim, if tired enough, while others leave without saying anything, especially if there is no other Sim in the house.

Thanks guys. I guessed it wouldn't deal with wants, and hearing that it indeed doesn't settles it for me. I have far too many Sims with that want a frequent guest in their want panel. I'll just mod the wording on the memory to better match what I consider BFF to mean, and leave it be. If ever I want a Sim to get furious with a BFF, I'll just remove that tag with Simblender.

Does anyone know if it is safe to store rar/zip/7z files as backup?

When I downloaded cc I keep a backup version on my other hard drive. But instead of extracting the contents, I keep it simple by just storing the rar files.

Will this preserve the items over time without losing any files?
Mad Poster
#22768 Old 8th Oct 2015 at 3:45 PM
Why would they lose files? They're just sitting there. The original point of compressing files like that was long-term data storage - that's why the software refers to "archives."

To be honest, I am extra cautious because for whatever reason i lose CC in my downloads folder...like they disappear or something! It could be because i have 18 gigs of cc but over time certain items disappear and i would have to redownload them, i know for a fact i would never delete a certain item or outfit. Hence the reason why i backup all my favorite ccs and hacks now. I need to make sure they wont disappear! I figured archiving it would be a sure thing but i needed to make sure.

Has anyone ever had a toddler grow up badly? I've been playing a "hands off, live and let be" game for awhile and I have some really horrible parents who have no desire to even play with their kids, much less teach them anything. I would intervene if one rolled a wish to teach the kids something but that hasn't happened. What happens if a toddler grows up badly in the red?

I haven't had a toddler growing badly for quite a while. IIRC you'll get a angry child who will throw tantrum, break the doll house, ruin paintings and maybe play with the fridge. I'm not sure about the last one.

I don't know if my question fits there. I'm playing Mootilda's Brainania and I'm wondering how much bills cost for the dorms. Whatever the number of students, bills are worth 100§. I use Ancient Highway's higher bills.

http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php...ual_Core_Issues

It's a thread regarding making Sims 2 only run under one CPU core when more are available. The instructions say that setting the affinity to a permanent setting isn't possible without third-party software (that is, each time it's required to open Task Manager and untick all but CPU0 under affinity settings for Sims2EP9.exe process).

I might be mixing those two together, but I always thought that adding -CPUCount:1 to the end of the shortcut's target does the same thing, i.e. makes the game use only one core.

Is the information in the article outdated, or does CPUCount not do what I think it does?

Im interested if anyone knows how to answer this question? I'm super intrigued =]

This is my playing style with romance sims that wind up with children for whatever reason, especially Don Lothario.
Mainly, they seem to get the bad memory and the clothes they age up in are red or dark-colored.

Probably a dumb question, as no one else seems to have the problem, but I downloaded several open-underneath modular stairs, including the passage fixes by Le Carrera, but when I go in my game to try them out, they all show as regular blocky stairs. No open-underneath'ness. I checked, double checked and trible checked that everything is in the right folders. Txt's in Scriptorium/ModularStairs and package files in downloads.

Is there some mod somewhere I can't find, that's required for them to SHOW as open underneath? What am I doing wrong? I realise this is probably the wrong place to ask, but I know that the stairs are popular on this forum, and figured I'd have a better chance of someone with an answer seeing my question here.
