Default The sims 2 UC directx 9.0 error on Win 8.1
This situation saddens me so much. Sims 2 is my favorite Sims version of all time. My old computer that had vista played just fine. I'm on a new computer. I've searched and tried their suggestions (changing compatibility mode, reinstalling, graphics rule change, etc...). I've called EA tech support, even the specialist there said that I have a very good computer; it's just the Sims 2 that doesn't play. I just cannot get into Sims 3 and 4. I'm posting to see if maybe just maybe someone has a solution that could work.

Did you use the "Graphics Rules Maker" from http://www.simsnetwork.com/simpedia...patibility-with

If so then it put an extra space on the line where it put you card in and you just need to remove the space.

I did try the Graphics Rules Maker, but I will try your suggestion.

Edit: I cannot find where I am suppose to remove the space.

Is it in the Graphic Rules.sgr or Video Cards, sgr or is it in the program?

You could do it again and see what the path is to make sure you get the right one.

You need to turn "forceLowResolution false" to true and in option Screen Mode you'll have to type in your computer resolution and save the GraphicRules.sgr file. I've had the same DirectX problem in the past.
I've never edited that VideoCards file.

It always worked for me with just the Graphic Rules file.

I'm a big confused by this. I set the path to Fun with Pets SP9 and clicked the first 3 boxes, added my card and saved. It didn't work.

I did the first part and not sure where to type in my computer resolution. All I see are three options (low, med, and high). Also sorry for putting both quotes in two different reply; I have no idea how to multi quote.
