The job the king has changes a certain outcome.
The Monarchs Effect (wears off when the king dies):
Tax – The king has become greedy; every household except related royalty must pay 10% of all their earnings from jobs/selling produce, instead of just 200 simoleons a week.
Venues – The king has decided to improve the life of the citizens by allowing music for the poor; Radios are allowed on the King's venues.
Business – The king has become economically interested, and believes venues are the way to a prosperous kingdom; merchants may own 2 venues instead of just 1
Horseman – The kingdoms Horse Ranches has become successful by the publicity the king has brought to it; everyone is allowed to buy 1 horse more (per household, even peasants)
Military – The king has become aware of the thieves his kingdom, and believes they should be punished; Kleptomaniacs and Criminals pays 300 simoleons a week in tribute instead of 200.
Political – The king has realized that his people must have space to flourish in order for his kingdom to be prosperous; households only pays 100 simoleons a week to the king.
Professional sports – The king has found his true love, sports, and cannot see a world without being able to work out; everyone is now allowed to buy Sports Machines for working out.
Nectar maker - The king has learned that France is no longer a threat, but instead a place of leisure; all households are allowed to go on holidays to France.
Nraas – athletic – The king has realized that the ideal body is a thin body; everyone must become normal/skinny.
Nraas – chess – The kings way of thinking has become logical, a prosperous kingdom is one with freedom; all households are now allowed to buy potions (except for transformation potions and Midas Touch)
Nraas - martial arts – The king has learned that China is no longer a threat, but instead a place of leisure; all households are allowed to go on holidays to China.

Every four rounds, you must have a randomizer choose one of these events for you, and you must execute it. (This whole thing is completely optional, and is only here for spice)

Religious Crusade: Everyone must pay 10% of all their money towards the church. (Just extract by buying an item and depositing it into the family inventory for eternity)
Plague: Roll 1 dice to see how many sims die. You must afterward kill that exact same amount of sims in game, they must be from at least 2 different classes.
War: Everyone must pay 5% of all their money to the King.
Golden Age: One free skill item for each household. (Easel, guitar, chess table, etc.)
Religious Uprising: Everyone must deposit all their skill items into their family inventory, and must never move them out of there, therefor, forcing them to buy new ones.
Royal Assassination: Roll a dice, if the number is 1, 3, or 5, the king dies. If the number is 2, 4 or 6, the queen dies.

This looks like so much fun! I'm definitely going to try it! Right now I'm just building a massive castle, so that'll be perfect to use in this challenge!

I was wondering about game settings, though, since I've not played anything similar. With aging on, your other Sims age while you aren't playing them? So you really don't get to play very much with each family each generation, eh? Do you play with Story Progression on? Because I imagine that would cause things to happen that aren't allowed, marriages, careers, etc...

Could we make it a monarch and have the kingdom based around the women instead of the men?

According to the rules of my RKC version you can play in a matriarchy, just replace males with females in all the rules and vice versa :D
