This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Game crashes on certain page of decorative catalogue
So I installed Seasons this morning and went to look at all the new stuff I have. Everything worked fine until I got to the decorative part of the catalogue. I had it set to view all categories, and suddenly the game crashed. It did so about a second or two after I clicked the arrow to go to the page after the hanging oven mitts. Help please?

I've got one or two things on MTS, but most of my stuff is on my main site here:

It'll be some incompatible or problematic CC I should think. Something not designed to work with Seasons.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

I removed all my CC and it still does this.

Did you delete cache files and check the objects.package?

Which are the cache files? The FAQ doesn't explain it very well.

Files in My Documents that aren't folders I think are all cache. Don't quote me on that, though. I think they also end with .cache

Alljoj is more or less right. In your The Sims 2 folder located in your user files (Usually Documents -> Ea Games -> The Sims 2), you'll see a whole bunch of folders. Sometimes you'll also find one or more of the cache files. They are called
Groups.cache
Accessory.cache
cigen.package
ContentRegistry -> has no file type

Groups and accessory are from running the main game, the other two are spawned by using bodyshop. None of them are required for the game to function, it'll regenerate them when needed. They are basically a shortcut for the game when it's looking at things, it'll reference things in the cache files and then read the cache rather than the piece of CC (something like that, any way). So when you add new CC or remove old CC, these files may point to places that don't exist, and the game can't handle that which means it either won't start or it crashes.

Open up your The Sims 2 folder, and see what files you have there. If any of the four I mentioned are present, delete them and see if it helps.

Creations can be found on my on tumblr.

Although it's unlikely to be this, check your saved sims folder for lurking cc as well.

It makes little sense if you have removed all cc - so I'd also check in the other game folders (perhaps a mod is lurking somewhere that is not compatible with Seasons and needs to be updated).

Maybe it was a bad install.

You can try to delete the thumbnail files (found in the Thumbnails folder seen in the pic above) and the cache files. Could be a borked thumbnail.

You don't by any chance have a recategorizer for objects hidden in the install files?

No recategorizers, not sure why there would be custom stuff elsewhere but I checked anyway and there wasn't. I'll do the thing with the thumbnails tomorrow, perhaps that's it.

Putting certain recategorizers and defaults in the install files makes sure the EAxis files aren't viewed by the game as custom content (no custom star or trash bin).
