Default Help with Error Report from HoodChecker
I've been having serious issues with my Pleasantview Hood and finally used Mootilda's (RIP) Hoodchecker and it helped fix a loooong list of issues it found in my hood. I ran it again and there's still some memories and missing sim files it could not fixed. I've read you can use SimPE and batbox to fix whatever is left but I honestly have no clue how to go about doing that for my particular hood issues and I've searched around. I found this tutorial but I don't know how to use it correctly. I know this is alot to ask but I just need a point in the right direction in regards to fixing up these memories.

Here is the report:

I have insimenator and used it to give and cure the Sims listed of supernatural states (plantsimism, lycanthropy, etc) if that's of any help. I also deleted Sims from sim bin and resurrected dead sims before I knew what they do to the game.

Thanks so much!!!

All the ones for the Tricou family you can just ingnore and will go away if you resurrect them.

As for deleting sims from the bin I dont know if you can do any thing with them and will have to live with it.
For memories just go find them in SimPE and use the cassading delete option by right clicking on the memory.

These are normal and you need to leave them alone "Met SimID=0x13AD37CA" they are either the bellhop or the counter worker in vacation hoods.

The hood is very corrupted and may not last very much longer.

ADD: This memory is by far the worst one you have for it is in the object package and may have corrupted you game files. The Good Witch Cat is an object and to have memory for it means the object package may have been corrupted.

The first four, the sim has no character file are your multi-polination technician or multi-ideal plantsim, or your animated animals or certain other animated items that use an NPC. Those are only a concern if you remove whatever supplies their data from your downloads folder. Identify them and never remove them from your downloads, and they are no problem.

Have you asked the hoodchecker to remove the corruption yet? Do that, and see what you've got left. If you still have memories that shouldn't be referencing your witch doctor and your good witch cat, then you have potentially a serious problem. If hoodchecker successfully redirects the memories about those to the sims they ought to be, then you are most likely okay for a while. The one involving $Subject also looks suspicious to me, like a sim got deleted sort of memory.

I think you also did not patch before loading your neighborhood. The thing about Sarah Crittur raises my suspicious. That, I think, can be fixed with SimPE, but you will need to find a tutorial for how to fix pregnancy tokens. Or terminate the pregnancy with a hack and get her pregnant again if you want those puppies.

Thanks for the reply. I suspected as much that it's on it's last leg. A big problem I've been noticing is that three particular sims (random townies I spawned myself) will randomly walk on to a home lot I'm playing uninvited and will act like they live there till I ask them to leave. I recently added the Look at me now hack (breaking 4th wall) and now I had a random vampire townie stroll into a DORM and do the same thing. She would not leave even after 2am until I asked her to.

I'm even more devastated to hear my game might be corrupted. Would checking if the date accessed info for program files allow me to know for sure if my game is screwed?

Also, I have a backup of my program files and hoods. If the game itself is corrupted, would it be safe to use the backup? The only issue is I backed up on my hoods and the program files on different dates. I do not mind starting from scratch with my hoods though.

I don't have my game CD's anymore and although I have UC, the current computer I use would not be able to handle all the EP's & SP's.

Thanks for the info about the PT's, I was not aware of that!
This is the report after Hoodchecker removed corruption, so I guess I do have a serious problem

The $Subject corrupted memory is literally sitting in her inventory like it's an object I put there and when I saw it, I knew it was the beginning of the end...or the end of the end, idk.. wow, this is all just

The date you want to check is on your object file on your installation drive (normally your c drive.) Find your latest EP, and if I'm remembering right (I run Windows 7, which marks everything read only, leading to other issues, so I haven't looked at this in a while) the path is TSData/Res/Objects.

You can always copy your backup in. Have you read the information on what not to do, going forward? http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...Hood_Corruption If you had done a great many of those things before your backup, you may want to take another option. HOWEVER, if this was original Pleasantview, skip to my last paragraph. I don't know enough about programs to know if it's safe to replace your objects, but if it were mine, I'd figure I hadn't anything to lose at that point.

Do you have SimPE and are you comfortable using it? There are a number of players about who have rebuilt hoods that were corrupted. You can use SimPE to make a copy of any sim you have, noting down personality, jobs, interests, recessive genetics, relationships, and whatever else you reckon important in a notebook. Then make a copy of the copied sim in Bodyshop. This step is MOST important, as SimPE doesn't make a clean copy. Then recreate the sim in a new neighborhood in CAS, and use hacks and SimPE to recreate their life. You will have to grow up babies and puppies in game first.

If you don't want to recreate the whole hood, you can recreate just your favorite families and sims, and have them move into a new hood. That's what I'd do, discarding old careers and relationships along the way. However, legacy challenge players routinely recreate all their sims and neighborhoods, because getting through ten generations in this game without corruption is . . . unlikely. I won't say it can't be done, but I will say that with all the anti-corruption aids in place, I had an apocalypse hood go unplayably buggy at the seven generation point, and I was pushing it to finish the last couple lifts.

If this is the as shipped Pleasantview, you are not allowed to kick yourself over it. You may only kick EA for shipping pre-corrupted hoods. You got that? If you did anything wrong it doesn't matter because they gave it to you broken. Now here are the tissues and we'll be around and help you sort this out when you're ready. Most of us have been there done that.

@Sunbee Thank you so much for your informative reply and the tissues!

Yes, my Pleasantview is the one that shipped with the game so I'll shake some fists as EA. *shakes fists*
The sad thing is I checked the modified date for the object.package files in all my EP's and SP's folders and I found out that I hadn't patched 3 of them I feel like such an idiot. I just assumed long ago that I had patched everything already.

The good news is that after patching everything, all of them have the the correct dates I referenced from here. I also backed up all the object.package files and made them read only and will pretty much memorize the Universal NPC's not to mess with. Does that mean my game is probably fine? Also, I have no clue what I did to create the error with the Witch's cat. I don't remember making it selectable and I barely play or interact with witches in the game. I just plan to ban them from every community lot with Visitor Controller.

I'm fine with SimPE as long as I have a detailed tutorial in front of me which I will look for. I'm pretty sure my backup was after I did things to corrupt my hood *sigh* I'll definitely be packaging lots of sims and recreating families and friendships in a new, clean Pleasantview hood. I also spent aloot of time decorating lots and creating memories in them so I will also be moving those over. I'll just think of it as an alternate universe.

I honestly plan to just play the hood till it implodes while getting everything ready for a new hood. I just can't let it go right now...so many memories. Anyway, thanks again so much for the help, you are awesome <3

Having hood corruption and one of the ways to tell is memories were memories should not be. There is a chance that your hood could play for another 3-4 years before it goes boom but there is a chance it will go boom tomorrow you can never tell.

Packaging lots of sims is highly discouraged. You read all the pretty red-highlighted stuff in the link I gave you about avoiding corruption, right?

Tarlia/Meetme2theriver has cleaned templates of all the pre-made hoods. She not only did as much as could be done to fix the corruption they shipped with, she also fixed sims made with the two broken face templates. You really should get her Pleasantview. Just scroll down this page: http://meetme2theriver.livejournal....0neighbourhoods until you find it.

Okay, so about corruption involving sims. You know your sims by their names, but your game knows them by a number. So if a sim has been deleted (which might mean his urn got smashed and swept up and trashed, or you binned him in his house, or actually used the delete key) then the game thinks it is free to reuse that number for another sim. Except there's still some information left about our deleted sim. He's in a family tree, a relationship memory, or Joe gossiped to Mary Sue about how he peed his pants and Mary Sue told Angela and they all still have references to our deleted sim in their memories. Which data then gets assigned to the newly spawned baby, puppy, or whatever may be that got the number for reuse.

Back when Tarlia was working on the fixed hoods, I had a newborn sim, Jodie Larson's kid, I think it was, show up as Chastity Greer of Belladonna Cove's grandpa. Which was good in this instance, because Tarlia talked me through retrieving the data she needed to fix that in her templates. So that's an example, a relatively benign one, of what can happen. Imagine if the kid thought he was somebody's dog!

Since the witches are from AL, it may be that your witch cat got assigned the same number for Sim ID as, say, Flo Broke, or some other dead and deleted tombstone therefore unlinked and reusable sim. Quite possible that it's nothing to do with your doings at all. Do you have nounlinkondelete? Go get it right away if you don't and keep it in your downloads at all times. That one is best placed in your "Never Remove" subfolder with your NPC generating hacks, so you don't accidentally pull it out and load the game when doing a 50/50 to pinpoint a malfunctioning hack.

Oh yeah, I definitely know not to package houses where Sims have lived, thankfully I never did that even when I was unaware. I meant I'd package Community Lots and i just plan to take lots of pics of residential lots and recreate them. I already have Talia's clean hoods bookmarked in my massive Sims 2 folder lol.

Thanks for the thorough explanation regarding Sim errors. This is turning into a great learning experience so there's a good thing. I will be getting nolinkundelete ASAP.

Now, I definitely didn't know the bolded. I mean, I knew about custom foods and PT's but not NPC generating hacks or CC. What are some examples of NPC generating hacks? I usually remove my entire mod/hack folder when doing the 50/50 method unfortunately. The more you know *cue shooting star*

Examples include rebecah's functional animals and Echo's carnival rides. Anything that moves around on its own is fairly likely to use an NPC, so you should check for those kinds of objects.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.
