This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Game freezing no matter what I do!
Okay, my game freezes at a combination of things.
1. It freezes at specific times
2. It freezes when I keep it on speed 3 for too long, and
3. It freezes when it is raining
I have tried everything I read, but nothing works. I tried to change the setting, but whenever I do that, my game crashes. I have tried to delete the caches, but that does not do anything either. I am at my wits end. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!

Here are links to Crinrict's Help Blog where she addresses game freezes at specific times, and other freezing issues. Sorry I can't offer more and I hope that something here helps with your freezing issue.

Too vague. Crash or freeze?

1) Are the freezes permanent? Your game either crash to desktop or you have to shut it down via task manager?
2) or Are you talking about minipauses that lag the game? It freezes but then frees up again then freezes later on again... etc...
3) Have you tried running a clean game? Move your Sims 3 user folder (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\) to the desktop. Then run the game, it will create a new one. Do NOT add anything from your original folder to the new one. Just play around and try to reproduce the freezes. This is important. It will determine if the problem is with your installation or your user folder.
4) What mods are you running? Please list the big ones like NRAAS, lighting mods, HQ mods, aging mods etc...
5) Please post your device config. It is a file in your Sims 3 user folder. Open it with notepad and post the contents here in spoilers tag.

Yes, the freezes are permanent. I have to close the Sims down using the task manager.

The mods I use are:
1. [Sleepy-Genius]TaxiCharge
2. cmar_PregnancyControllerV5
3. Nona_BreastfeedBabyMod
4. RB_EAPregnancy_NoDaysOff
5. Sniper296_CurfewRemover
6. SuperScripts V2
7. NRAAS ErrorTrap, Hybrid, PortraitPanel, MasterController/MasterControllerCheats, and Overwatch.

Default This Fix-It Helps !
Hey,

Did you tried playing The Sims 4 in offline mode? This helped many people to prevent freezes. Your game retrieves data very slowly when there is a slow Internet connection. All you've to do is just try offline mode. As showed in http://www.reginout.com/help-center...freezing-in-pc/ , please delete cache contents, 3D settings from NVIDIA Control Panel. This might definitely help.

Please do press C, Shift & Ctrl keys to open up a new dialog. In that dialog, type "testingcheats true" & press ENTER. Now that you've Sim opened after pressing Shift + Left keys simultaneously. Do click CAS.

Which is all well and good if you're playing the Sims 4, but I think you ended up in the wrong part of the forum.

Oddly enough I found that, I forget which. Overwatch or Error Trap would make my game freeze permanently every time on the first night. some random time between 1 and 4 am (never the same time exactly). I would have to remove the mod from the .packaged folder for the first night, and put it back in afterwards. It would happen intermittently through the game but more rarely. like once a sim week or month. But always that first night. Every time. IDK why.

assuming your mods are matching game version
is that completely new game or "1st night of the old save"?
as nitromon stated below Overwatch starts its cleaning usually at 0300 (if not adjusted to other time) and it can take a quite while in case of very dirty saves (many lost sims, unlinked memories (if enabled at all) hordes of stucked sims, wandering toddlers, abandoned cars somewhere etc.

seems both mods catches major problem (or just hudge one) and are trying to resolve it without sucess - which you receive as "freeze".
Personally I'd check, and double check if the mods are matching game version.

BTW:

2. cmar_PregnancyControllerV5
6. SuperScripts V2
7. NRAAS ErrorTrap, Hybrid, PortraitPanel, MasterController/MasterControllerCheats, and Overwatch.

there're my pickups for troublemakers, especially 1st two. They may try to mess with the same resources as other scripts and producing errors.

It only ever happened with brand new saves, Like, make a new family in CAS, plop 'em down. make dinner, learn handiness, change the tot's diaper and go to sleep. I would happen shortly after my sim went to bed and it sped up into super time. The tree and wind animations would continue, as well as the ZzZZzZzzZzs over my Sim's head, but the rest of the game would freeze. I'd had it happen at various times in the early AM. I noted it was never usually exactly 3 am which is when Overwatch does it's cleanup. The later my sim went to sleep, the later it would happen, but when I kept my sim from sleeping at all, it still happened around 4:30 am. I would never get a message of an error report, and it would never crash, it just froze there forever. Now. I'd been used to the game freezing, particularly in vacation worlds exploring tombs, so I just let it go and waited for it to unfreeze. One time I waited three irl hours for it to unfreeze as I did other things around the house. and it just sat there with the trees swaying in the hyper speed wind. :\ Once I left it and took a nap and woke up to find it still frozen.

Also I made very sure to double and triple check and kept replacing my version of the mod, over and over again. in case a setting got changes or something got tweaked. so it was definitely the right patch version. But taking the mod out for the first night and putting it back in afterwards always did the trick xD.

Do you play in window mode? If you do, you can open task manager when this happens and see if the memory for the game is actually moving. Usually in such instances, the memory would be frozen or slowly incrementing (and I mean slowly. like a dripping faucet). When you see it behave this way, don't waste 3 hrs waiting, it is gone. This is a memory issue, it can be caused by bad mods leading to memory leak... or it can be bottleneck issue with lack of memory or a slower CPU.

Well, as you probably know my PC is 7 years old, so there's no denying the game ran with a few issues. I just found it curious removing that one mod made it work. That installation is long gone anyway as since then I'd had this computer break, upgraded to a new computer, realized I was scammed into paying $900 for a piece of shit which broke in less than a year, and fixed this one up. xD

I wasn't so much complaining about my issue as suggesting OP could try temporarily removing those mods and see if the freezing stopped o-o

Also try set up Nraas MasterController CAS option to show CAS items in "compact mode", except of 1st CAS entering it speeds up the process of showing contents.
And in such particular problem with Overwatch/ErrorTrap maybe Nraas shoutbox/forums would provide you an answer?

Julie - Please make sure your mods and CC are all clean, that needs to be the first step in your troubleshoot. Download Delphy's Dashboard here at MTS and then scan your mods (my documents/electronic arts/the sims 3/mods/packages). It will identify any problems, delete those and your problem may be solved. My game was having all sorts of lag problems, ran Dashboard, deleted the bad stuff, game is humming along now. Good luck.

Yeah, I remember your specs. However, I remember your CPU wasn't that bad, it was old, but a quad-core and above 3GHz... And you have around 6GB of ram... The only thing I remember from the convo was your graphics card was low end because you burned the graphics card slot. But this freeze issue shouldn't be graphics related... might be, but I doubt it.

Bottleneck might come from your HDD cache. Though you only have 6GB of ram, but you are running vista... so you can spare a little for a RAMdrive, this might help your performance especially on ultra speed.

c: you sir or madam have a memory as amazing as the waiters at the local Midtown Tavern.
They never write down orders even for parties of 8 people, and never get a thing wrong.
They've also memorized the price of every single item on the menu and don't bother bringing you a bill, they just tell you your total.
Plus the food is fucking AMAZING. Do you taste amazing too nitromon?
